Steve Harris and flats

Does anybody here know when Steve started using flats? I would love to duplicate his sound from The X Factor. On that album, there is alot of high end to his sound, however, when he moves his fingers on the strings it sounds like flats instead of rounds.

Ya, I tried Roto flats on my Turser Beatle bass and they sounded pretty bright. But to get that sound, you'll probably have to change them fairly often.

They'll get the tone you are looking for, but vintage P'ups and tube amps will help too.
