I have read some interviews with Steve Harris where he says that he has gone back to his old sound.. Can anyone tell my what he mean? Is there a difference in his sound now?

My favorite "older" Harris sound is found on Killers. I dig pretty much everything after that- especially Piece of mind & Powerslave, but it seems to me that the first two records were a little less processed and more Pbass/flats/muscular if that makes sense...

My guess is that Steve is going for less signal processing and back to more bollocks

I imagine he was talking about the recording and mixing, not his bass gear. His gear has been probably the same for over a decade.

I also like his sound on Killers. But i cant say that i hear much differnce from Killers and to date. The first album is..well...I wonder if he, producer and band mates, where happy with that sound. Maybe you should try roundwounds Arry?? Thank god he didnt listen to that

Thats right

At some point around Powerslave I know that Steve had experimented w/ Lado basses... not sure how much of that experimentation extended to the recording process either. I can tell a big difference between 'Killers' and 'Powerslave' and particularly 'Somewhere in Time'... it seems more processed to me, but either thats me or that they had Martin Birch cracking his whip... Usually its all in my head
