This weekend Ive been jamming along with my Stevie Wonder best of album. He's great some great basslines in his songs . Jamerson does a great job on Stevie's early recordings. MY favorite are tuns like Superstition , High Ground , Living For the City . High Ground has a great feel to eat and a great keys bass part. Stevie had some great bass guitarists in his band too. NAte watts is one to mention. Playing bass with Stevie is something I dream of.

nathan watts is a great bassist. stevie's keyboard basslines are slamming too. That man was and is a genius. I just can't understand why he puts out these Pop albums now that IMO are second rate at best. He had an amazing run of albums in the 70's.

He suffers from the same diease as Phil Collins - another great, imaginative player who chose the pap (sic) road. From innovative to housewife fodder (srry ma).

Yeah, Stevie put out some rippin' basslines in the day.

Both Stevie's "classic" period (Talking Book through Songs In The Key Of Life) and Phil Collin's breakthrough (Face Value which was a lot edgier than the stuff he followed it up with) came right after divorces.

Once happily remarried...well, you get the picture. You could see it coming with Stevie...after all, Isn't She Lovely with those overdubbed baby noises is a far cry from Superstition.

Plenty of great "post divorce" records to be found out there: Dylan's Blood On The Tracks is another one that is considered a career high point.
