Stevie Wonder has never had a bad bassist.

James Jamerson, Bob Babbitt, Nate Watts, Stevie himself on a few records... They're all among my favorite bass players. I can't honestly thing of a Stevie tune that doesn't have a fantastic bassline.

Didn't Anthony Jackson play with Stevie? if so, another top class bassist to add to the list.

Agree. Circle gets the square.

In fact, I think Stevie's own synth bass provided some of the best bass lines ever recorded.

Village Ghetto Land. At least, it doesn't have an fantastic electric/double bassline, but I'm just nitpicking.

This thread has encouraged me to pick up Songs in the Key of Life again and I might try learning some more of the basslines. Nathan Watts is the king.

Ive always said that great musicians and great writers/arrangers know how important the bass is. Stevie learned from the best about bass. Jamerson was his teacher and taught him alot.
