I'm really curious about your Matamp though. How are they for bass? I've only ever heard one clip online of a bass amp by Matamp and it didn't seem that spectacular to me. The natural OD didn't seem that great.
how would you compare it to other amps you've owned? |

It's currently sitting on top of my SVT-VR which is on top of an 810 fridge. My brother dubbed it the "tower of power" haha. | I might have to look into getting one someday. Right now I'm pretty happy with my SVT-VR and 810, but I do need to sell my SVT-CL.
HMMMM

how would you compare it to other amps you've owned? | I love my GT200. i like the natural OD because the preamp stays fairly clean and it is the power amp that generates the majority of the OD. having said that you really have to play at very loud volumes or use an inefficient cab to be able to turn it up loud enough to overdrive it. with my ampeg 810 i cant quite get enough OD without being too lous so that is why i use od pedals. my only complaint is i find the EQ in mine to be too subtle and it is hard to get a lot of variety out of it. however it seems the newer version of the Gt200 addresses that.
Compared to my 70s SVT, it has cleaner lows and low mids. much smoother and tighter and the OD is not quite as fuzzy and farty as the SVT. check out some of my band's youtube clips ( http://www.youtube.com/user/monohbrau?ob=0) specifically the clips for The 460 and Clocktower, not ideal but gives you some idea.
Old Crow recently got a GT200 MKII maybe he can chime in but from what i understand the GT200 is cleaner and not as bass heavy as the AD200. It has more clean headroom and seems to have more output power. mine was scoped at around 195 watts clean and 320 watts with everything dimed.
Having said all the I am planning on eventually selling mine and getting a MKII.

It was a really close call as to whether or not we would be able to afford it (a lot of generous friends and family helped us out) and he managed to pull through. He even was able to walk again, which was the best case scenario. Hope you and your buddy manage to get through this okay.
