So I have a QOTSA station on pandora rocking at work and I'm currently obsessed with queens and soundgarden's bass tone. And tips on how to EQ? P bass and flats I have and I'm going to try to get it out of my genz and bassic cab. Thoughts?

Add some dirt. Scoop the mids. Cut the highs.

When I was on an epic Soundgarden / Stone Temple Pilots kick awhile back, my passive Ibanez P-bass satisfied the need for toAnz

Anyone else notice this is now the Stone/Doom thread?

Just start telling people you're in a Stone band. When they ask if its some sort of metal, respond with "No.... it replaced Metal."

I noticed the "Stone/Doom" thing right away, but I didn't say anything. I didn't want to be that "you spelled it WRONG!" guy. Even though I am definitely that guy.

Yeah I love that tone. I get it by: gain barely starting to break up. All tone knobs at 12 o'clock except a slight high-mid scoop. On an Ampeg I just turn on ultra low and high and leave everything at noon. All tube head helps…

That soundgarden/ AIC sound has been my tone of choice 90% of my "career?"
