I really heavily considered that one in the classifieds, but I don't like the bound and blocked fretboard. Don't get me wrong, it looks cool on its own terms, but I'm more obsessed with that 64 look. Just plain rosewood fretboard with dots. I was considering just getting a Fender Standard and changing the pickguard, but I really like that matching headstock look. I could probably go that route if I got a maple board/headstock one and changed it to black pickguard and hardware.

I don't really know where to put the Comp or boost because I don't really use them. You could play around with that. Vol. before the delay lets you do some really cool vol swells into the delay. Play around with it you might like it. Wah after fuzz makes it more pronounced. this is just my take on it.
I've played with wah pre / post dirt I go back and forth. There's definitely a difference btwn sending a wah'd signal into dirt and wah-ing a dirty signal. Putting the xero after the dirt still allows me to have a filter on it which I can sweep with the expression pedal.

I use the boost as a simple vol bump for a 'solo' or anywhere I want to be a little louder so I like to put it after most thing that color the signal so it doesn't change anything other than its input volume.

I've been bouncing the comp around a bit. A lot of more traditional players like to put it first to send a nice smooth even signal through everything else. I've found that I prefer that my natural dynamic goes into the dirt, but in the past boosting a signal after its been (in some cases) heavily distorted can be a bit much or the amp. So I attempt to hypothetically even out peaks with some compression so everything can be evenly boosted if I so desire.

I started putting the volume at the end so I can use it as a master volume. I like to run my pass at ten to provide maximum signal to the chain but use my volume to dial it back to accommodate the situation without affecting how an effect is reacting to the input signal.

I don't claim to know if or why any of this is right.... This I just what I've figured out or convinced myself of over the years. I appreciate the input and the opportunity to share, hopefully if helps someone else. It should also be said that certain effects are rarely combined... But ya never know...

I hear ya. It's all personal taste. The other bass players board is completely backwards from mine but that's how he jives with it. Delay before synth and stuff like that. It's all just playing around with combos to try and get sounds you want and everyone wants different stuff. Let me know what you end up doing.

Delay before synth sounds crazy but I'm sure it makes some crazy stuff possible. I have some more experimenting to do but I'll post a picture with the signal path when I get it done.... Hopefully this week.

And we have lift off! I dusted off my Mbox 2 Mini (haven't used it for a couple of years since I sold my BDDI) and hooked up my pedal board to my 7 Pro and DI'd out to the Mbox. It is sounding quite good. Now to make some clips...

Uhh... so I haven't used this in awhile. When I turn the mix knob all the way to pre-mix and I hear the input of my bass everything sounds great. But when I play back what I recorded there's this like 8 bit synthy distortion and static in everything. Any suggestions? Wonder if my DAW has gone bad.

The static doesn't show up anywhere in the waveform.

Coery, and anyone else who might be interested, here is a clip of the OSD and Barbershop recorded with my Ric.

Low gain setting at first then some higher gain at the end. with good speaker and/or headphones you can hear how the Barbershop is more transparent while the OSD has the bump in the mids. I can't really decide between the two. I have yet to try the Barbershop in a band mix though.

Lol I came up with one riff last night and now I've spent the whole day trying to get pro tools working. So frustrating.

Hello guys, sorry to barge into the circle.

I know you guys like your boutique equipment, so I feel a bit cheap and dirty posting this here, but I thought you would like it anyways.

I just bought a Digitech Bad Monkey and replaced capacitor C11 with a 0.47uF capacitor to let more bass through. Having messed around with it, and a Digitech bass squeeze, I got quite a cool tone so I recorded a wee clip with it.

I've been listening to a lot of Thrones recently, and a few Om albums whilst I was finishing off my dissertation, so I guess that is sort of the vibe I was going for with this clip.

Man, that was a lot of work for so little amount of playing. Here's the two clips I just recorded.

New riff I'm working on. Both the bluebeard and el oso are on in this one.

Just showing how the SVT-7 sounds with no effects. Really like the tone here. My playing is sloppy as hell on this song though. Rusty on this one =P

that sounds great man, nothing wrong with budget gear. I'd use that pedal any day.

so is that with the BB set to tone and fuzz at min? if so it would seem the El Oso adds quite a bit of bite to the sound especially considering you are using chromes (i assume an old set)...I would love to hear the El Oso on it's own if you ever get the chance.

Maybe I should mod my monkey, even on guitar more bass isn't a bad thing.

Got the peavey head, a little fender bullet amp and a moridira m25g combo for $30. The peavey needs some serious TLC but I like cleaning stuff up. So far found some crazy trash inside the head, pens, clothes pens a grocery bag. Never heard of moridira, but I'll be selling it no doubt. The peavey head is actually 210 watts but at 2 ohms.

Edit: also the seller had a regular sized hand and one the size of a babies.

anyone here think that a beta bass preamp and a Class D (500-1000W) power amp would be a good bass head design?

After playing the beta bass I just borrowed, I think it's kinda sterile sounding.

I keep meaning to try plugging my Beta Bass into a class D power amp. The only big drawback to that head is a lack if adequate headroom. It just occurred to me that I could try it out with the effects loop on the MB800. I'll have to try that tomorrow or Monday. I'm on the road and out of town today.
