Full disclosure, i plan on using the same idea for my band's shirts. w/ several thousand miles and an international boarder between us, i am ok w/ suggesting the idea to you.

Haha I saw that one its pretty awesome. Pretty sure the bridge pickup is not original but that red binding is sick. Never seen that one before.

There's also a white destroyer on eBay that's pretty rare.

I've got a nice collection of Ibanez stuff now. I probably won't be picking up anymore basses for awhile unless I see a good deal on a lawsuit or I find a good quality flying V that doesn't cost 4 figures.

i used to use a fretless SR5 for some heavy stuff, but it didn't have enough mwah so i sold it. i recently bought a fretless and i've been using it at rehearsals. if my fretless were a 5, i'd use it full time. for now, i just use it at rehearsal.

So I just ordered a matching 2x15 for my Electric Amp USA power unit. It's gonna be the same size as the 6x12. Each 15 in its own enclosure. Oh and I have a White Head so It'll be a white cab. That will fit my jetglo Ric nicely

Well, in my insomnia tonight, I finally pulled the trigger on a SX fretless P...now the waiting game, which isn't going to help my sleep much.

I'm kind of a tourist here since I don't play doom. However, I'm quite a Kyuss fan which is why I'm readin' for some time here. I'm improving my music range here :-)

There was once a doom live video here on TB, some guys were having a concert in the dunes or on some rocks - I just remember it to be pretty epic but I don't find it anymore, which is a shame.
Any of you guys has that one in his bookmarks?

I'm thinking it was something from Duna Jam.

I tried out D'Addario Chromes awhile back and loved them, and ever since I have put them on every single bass I own. I have them on my PBass, my Artist and my RB950.

Pros:

I love the way they feel. I can play finger style incredibly fast on them.
I set up my basses with very low action. Chromes basically ignore all string to neck/frets clacking and let me really dig in if I want.
Great for bends and slides.
I am not a fan of highs and really like the way these sound.

However I've always struggled with maintaining good sustain, and after multiple basses/amps I am beginning to think that the chromes are possibly the culprit. When I am riffing out the sustain is fine but when I am trying to ring out my basses seem to go quiet rather quickly. It has been so long since I've played anything but Chromes that I am not sure if this is related to them or not. I should probably experiment and see...
I just put D'addario light chromes .45-.100 on my back-up bass which has super bright dimarzios p's. I was trying to get the warm compressed Roger Waters tone ala In The Flesh Curious as to how they would react with 'My' sound. I like them so far but I'm not sure if I'm honeymooning. Sounds nice with my distortion and I hadn't noticed any significant loss of sustain but I'ma keep an eye out. The fact that I can turn my tone knob all the way up and all other treble knobs to max and still have a 'warm' tone on my bright bass speaks volumes for how different they are than Roundwounds.

I loved the sound I got with Chromes through my SVT. Now I'm just not sure since I'm using SS. I think it will eventually end up with me going back to tubes

My custom length strap from Couch is on order. Also, this whole dilemma with my back has made my wife take notice of my gear. I've been playing almost 16 years with nothing more than a starter instrument, MIM Squier. Don't get me wrong, I love it and my el cheapo OLP bass. But the fact remains, these are intended for musicians starting out. My wife has told me that we can get something nicer after the summer. Of course, I got my eyes on Carvin's SB4001 Chambered series bass. Been thinking of Warmoth too but like the idea of recieving a bass ready to play out of the box, no assembly required. I think it was Corey that had one. What can you tell me about your experience Corey?

Yeah, I have a SB4000. It's one of the best playing and sounding basses I've ever had. It's the heaviest bass I own though, now that my Kramer is gone. I play it a lot at home when I'm recording and practicing, when I can play sitting down. Otherwise it messes with my shoulder. The SB4001 came out right after I ordered mine, now I wish I had waited just a little longer and got one. The problem with my left shoulder was never really noticeable until around the time I got the bass though, because I had not been practicing or gigging regularly for a few years before that. That's the main reason I pulled the trigger on my Drake Custom. After 6 months of not playing my nicest bass because it was killing my shoulder I was willing to pony up some extra dough to guarantee I could get exactly what I wanted within a certain weight range.

On the merits of build quality and factory setup though, I would give Carvin a big endorsement, it's a great instrument. If weight is an issue I would talk to someone on the phone and communicate that you're looking to go as light as possible, even if you're going with the 4001. They might be willing to accommodate you on that, don't know. I think my 4000 is around 9.75 lbs or thereabouts. They show the weight of the basses in the In-Stock section, but it's always a crap shoot what's going to show up there.

I tried flats for a little while and just couldn't get into them. I really like a present, hi-fi tone (matches my aggressive playing style) and you simply can't get them with flats.

Hell, I even use DR Sunbeams (roundwound) on my fretless.

I had flats on all my basses for about 2 years. Now I only keep 1 p-bass with La Bella flats.

chromes on the p & the j, rounds on the stingray 5 (which i never use and want to sell). i am quite happy w/ flats.

the only issue i have is w/ the flats on my p. everything sounds perfect except when playing galloping style triplets or 16th notes: the chromes are a little too "clacky" against my fingerboard. i've been playing w/ my eq and pedal settings to remedy this, though it might be that my action is too low.

Any pics of the Carvin? I think the hardest part about ordering a bass from them will be narrowing down all the options.

Any one else excited about the new HoF album that's coming soon? Hellz yeah, I am!
