I'm also contemplating building a 415 guitar cabinet.

Also running that Di you can drive a pa amp. I like peavey IPR's and crest proLites.
Certainly not trying to get you guys to build my rig for me, just want to clarify some stuff.

If I got for the Dually with the 3015's...Are you guys running another cab with 12's or 10's with it? I don't have ANY experience with just running 15's.

All you need are 15s...

Good luck with the new spawn, they seem to have their own schedule, and there's no changing their mind.

No sir. I would recommend you run it as a stand alone cab.

A little intro: Am primarily a guitar player, but for every band I've ever played in I take a bassist roll. With my current band, Mariana, I decided to take full ownership of being a badass bassist. We are a pseudo proggy, pseudo stoner rock group - Basically we have fits of Isis, Russian Circles, Hum, Pelican etc thrown all about.

Current rig is:

Fender Blacktop P Bass --> Volume pedal -> Boss TU-2 -> Fulltone OCD -> Ibanez DE-7 short delay -> Ibanez DE-7 long delay -> Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe DI -> Ampeg SVT 3 Pro -> 2 Ampeg 410HLF's.

Been trying to friend a couple people's bands on here. We are in Idaho, but plan on making weekend trips to WA, OR, NV, UT, MT, etc....

Found this site while searching for a replacement for the SVT3, as well as the desire to push more air than my 410's can handle. Ideally i'd like to replace 1 of the cabs with a 2x15. haha, learning more about Greenboys offerings.

This looks like a great place to do some discovering!
Welcome. We all have different budgets and such. If I had that budget and ran into myself before I started dedicating more time to Stoner Rock, I would have told myself to have a cab built based on either the Sunn 215B or TL606 design. Two of those cabs + a Dunwich creation preamp with a nice power amp (I would have sprung for the drivecore 2000 instead of 1000).

But, we all pretty much make whatever work for us.

Four 4 ohm drivers in series would be 16 ohms.....

Also I like a mid driver with the 15's I run....

Yeah you can run just 15s. dont neccessarily equate speaker size with a specific tone. the challenge with the fearful stuff is that you cant always try before you buy and the resale value isn't great apparently.

Cool stuff, is there a well known, preferred builder for these?

I don't mind selling one of my HLF's - this adventure might happen soon...

Anyone a fan of 4x12's here??

I've read about the dually, but haven't got a grasp on who actually builds/manufactures them. I get that it's a Greenboy design....

My budget is pretty flexible, but I'm not spending $2k on cab. Well, maybe I might..... I can get rid of the 410HLF's pretty easy to help pay for a replacement.

The original plan was to replace one of the 4x10 and add something like the dually. Pretty sure my amp handles decent 2ohm loads.
Just don't try to buy a used dually at guitar center.

edit: Wow, just checked online. How the **** did I not notice this? Guess, I'm selling the Ampeg...I do have a good hookup on an SVT5 Pro, those are pretty powerful and hit 2ohms.

Now that that changes some things...I've got a VT Bass deluxe I use for recording DI. Haven't tried it as at all; Anyone running one into a big ass power amp?
With that head you can slave a cheap power amp

Welcome Auspex,
I run a pre/power rig w/ 2 1x15 ported cabs at about 900W. I think it sounds great. It's a little less punchy than 8x10"s would be but it's good with low lows and mids. I can even squeeze some high end bite out of it if I really want to. I just don't really want to.
