Some quick EQing and it goes from dirty rock/metal grind to clean almost hi-fi to vintage thwub. My Eden did the clean brilliantly, the dirty rock very well and didn't do the vintage that well. I have different basses for different needs and this all together meets all my sonic needs.
My experience with Markbass is much more limited but it really seemed like it did the clean pretty well but not much else.

Before I found my EBS I was looking at grabbing a Hartke LH500 or 1000 and simply relying on my bass and Sansamp for all of my tone. I loved the Eden but figured I could save some money there. | Actually I enjoy my old Hartke head using the tube preamp side and usually having the eq off. Been thinking of getting one of the new LM heads

I think the LH500 and LH1000 heads are just more powerful with less options.

I know they have their reputation for "sterile", but have you heard Mike Watt on the Contemplating theEngine Room? That tone rocks! He played the same gear live as he did in the recording. I couldn't speak for their re-badged tube head.

edit - another gem:
"True, but somebody posted this to /r/Bass because they think every bassist is gonna go crazy over it since the bass is the focus of the track. I, personally am sick of it and wish there was more content on this subreddit that showcases the importance of bass as a rhythm section instrument. Sure, shredding can be impressive, but I got over it long ago. SHREDDING BASS WONT GET YOU GIGS!"
does anyone else think the world would be better off without these terrible cover bands and their associated musicians? sure it would drive up the price of instruments if cover bands were no longer allowed to exist, but..

Super hyped about this bass. Easily the best bass I've ever played.
Low-wide fret option, too. Swamp ash body. Matching quilt headstock. Gotta' love it. | And don't forget the leaf sticker between the neck and neck pickup!

| | Plug In, Turn Up, Doom Out. Long Range Fluffer Owner: Dunwich Amps | | | | | its a modded marshall style FMV (so nice i can just refer to this now here) with a 2nd mid control that adjusts the slope resistor in the tone stack to really really push mids on it. Presence is a high shelf EQ later in the amp that can either cut some high end or boost it |

I just like green.
