Guitarist and me are thinking of picking this up... http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/msg/3640378315.html | I've used a 388 before, extensively. Good tape multitrack, easy to use, utilizes a tape format that you can still buy new (456 I think? can't remember). You might want to see if you can find parts for it first though, if it needs repair. Since it's so huge, shipping it to have it serviced is a pain.
If you do buy it, do yourself a favor and buy appropriate cleaning materials for it when you buy the tape, then find some online tutorial videos or something. Those old tape machines really do need regular maintenance to work at their best.

Not trying to be a snob, I like lots of music apart from metal genres and the band doesn't suck...it just seems more like a blatant marketing ploy than a passionate band to me. Like how indie rockers get chaffed in the pants about Lana Del Rey. | IMO a lot of the fuss is because they kick ass live, so they built a reputation among bands that they played shows with. I caught the last date of their tour with Mastodon and Opeth, and my GF missed out on an autograph from Brann Dailor before the show because he sprinted away from the autograph line to make sure he didn't miss any of their performance.
They sure as hell sound metal live, with the volume up and the background vocals off. Surprisingly groovy as well.

Anyone done this in a stoner rock band successfully? | my band does it....but we havent played a show yet. Saturday is the first, will let know how we're received. lol

Lifetime Warranty, hope they take care of you.

Huge bummer...the fact that they haven't responded to my email sucks, too. :/ | My El Raton was doing something similar. Humming but seemed to pass signal. So I sent it in for repairs. Peter VFE looked over everything but here the damn 9 volt battery connector points were touching parts of the inside of the pedal.. He taped up the contacts and no more hum. Never charged me for troubleshooting or shipping back to me, great guy. I felt dumb for sending it in for that but all the pedals I had that was a first for me. I never use batteries so when I get a new pedal I just make sure there is no battery in there and never look back. Worth a shot to check on that I figure.
