The guitar lead in "Red Dust" sounded a little off key, but that might just be tuning issues or something on the specific recording. I wish we were geographically closer, so I could record you guys. I want to engineer/produce more stuff like this.
"Cunning Priest" is a standout. Everything sounds dialed in and it's a killer tune. I could imagine that actual recording being on a late 80s/early 90s 7" in my collection.

Very kind words, thank you! Jon and I are both big fans of traditional doom so I guess it comes out in the music. I'd love to have you record us. My boss is a tape and tube fanatic with a full studio in his basement, he offered to record us for free (in protools, tape would cost more). We're definitely going to do it, but it would be nice to work with someone familiar with the genre. He's a little older than my dad and a really cool guy, but he's not into metal. He does like Alice Cooper, though so that's something.
Thanks again for the kind words. |

Jack Read 2003 custom made bass. Guy plays 4's now and this has sat for years. Bartolini MM pickup, Bartolini pre, Rick Turner piezo saddles. Nothing structurally wrong with it, except the wooden bridge cover is cracked (I don't care) and the truss rod is "tight" (I care more, hmm...)
He's looking for $1300 outright, but offered me the bass as is for my 3Pro + $850. Not sure if I'd have to shill out for truss rod work. I was hoping to get $500 for my amp... $850 seems a bit high to me, but if I can talk him down to $700, I just may jump on it. I'd be aiming at making this my go-to bass and knocking my '93 Carvin LB75 off the pedestal. Thoughts?
EDIT: Actually I think I'm gonna pass. For half the price I can get that Ray35 and mod it all up if I dont like the sound. I've never really fallen for the custom / boutique bass bug, and this piqued my interest, but given the price + truss rod issue + piezo pups, I just don't think its my cup of tea. I think I just want a MM single pup bass. But I'm still open to opinions.

Could end up costing you another few hundred bucks to get that sorted out. |

Thanks again for the kind words. | You're welcome, I'll definitely buy a copy if you put something out. Sometimes having someone who isn't familiar with your genre is a blessing, if they have good fundamental listening and recording skills. Sometimes people who "specialize" in a particular sound just have a template or a go to way of doing things that make every band sound the same. If he's serving what makes the music sound best and gets what you want out of the recording, that's all the matters. One of the best recordings I've ever done was a reggae band.

And now my brother is getting married the end of March. I feel like I have paid for a good chunk of a plane by now. Think I will have to wait till tax return time for next big purchase.

That was before their new album released | Yup, that's right, they played a gig in my ****** home town, a friend of mine opened for them with a band called Jointhugger. Hung out with David their bassplayer after the show (GREAT show btw), really cool guy. Buffalo is a killer album for sure, just a bit short.
