I agree when starting to play shows I like to keep it to 20-24 mins with as few breaks as possible until people are actually there to see you. I always liked my sets to feel analogous with being in a fight. Come on, start ripping, and pummel the crow until your done.... Leave them wanting more. Better to play a concise set of bangers than to add a new / still being worked on song just to fill time.

I always like stickers! Love to stick em, and they are free promotion.

Sorry for all the quotes... I'm on the app. Atl is great! Lots of venues, and yes little 5 is the hippest place to be. Criminal records used to be there, and there is a crazy black metal record store in Marietta just up 75. Athens has some awesome shops too. The thing with Atlanta is that any tour coming up or down the coast or even heading west tends to come through. If your in the area I would try to get to/ play Asheville nc too. Really cool town, very hippy friendly but I saw graveyard came trough on their last tour so there's got to be some scene there...

I agree with that review! Glad I wore my supervoid shirt then. This thing fits like a freaking glove by the way. How did you know my measurements?

Who was it that posted this eBay bass?

Because god damnit you ignited a GAS fueled war inside of me.... the natural wood color with black binding and hardware.... the price is workable too.... GAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH I don't "need" another bass, and I'm not sure i can pass a "want" by the little lady and I really don't want to have to sell my p-bass or jag bass.....

p.s. I'm thinking this is one of those chinese mail order copies, but it looks pretty damn spot on. Anybody know how to tell for sure if it is? It is neck through with what looks to be a correct pickguard, but the bridge is unusual. Just wanna make sure if i do bid on this bass im not over paying.

its either a ibanez or univox. For neck thru I say $600 max (laz??). Also FWIW it's probably a better neck then most Rics

I was gonna guess ibanez due to the spot on build. 600$ would be about my limit, really 500$ is but i might be able to fudge it a lil, and as of right now there are zero bids. I was wondering about the neck as it actually looks to be a little bit wider than most ric's, which is good as wider fretboards are easier on my hands. I've played a 78 ric before and down by the nut it was a little too narrow for my liking but no different than my jag bass that i've gotten used to. Hmmmmm.... time to scour the studio for more stuff to unload...

Hmm. I'm not sure what famous maker truss rod cover means, so I googled it, and it looks like the guy bought it here just a couple of weeks ago and is trying to flip it on eBay: FS: Fakenbacker

The lack of neck plate, along with the weird looking bridge, leads me to believe its not a vintage MIJ, and was probably made recently. Maybe within the past 10 years or even sooner, explaining the good body condition. The concerns expressed in the TB thread echo the same concerns I have, getting a proper setup with that funky ass bridge. You'd likely have to replace it.

I believe its a recent build as well, hence why I think its a mail order chinese bass. It does concern me that if nobody else bids i'd still be paying 100$ more than the buyer did, but according to the ad they have installed a real Ric neck pickup (which might have been to fix the wonky angle on the original pickup) and now are including a black bridge pickup cover (are those two really worth another 100$?

) as far as the bridge and setup I can work with most of that, I can go over to my brothers and break out the belt sander to file down any bridge part (maybe even the bottom of the whole bridge so as not to f*ck with the saddle radius), since if those measurements are right i'd really only need to bring it down 1/32 to get it into my action comfort zone. Hmmm this is truly pondersome.

That bridge pickup cover looks like a real Ric part, and they are hard to find. Demon666 was looking for one of those. Maybe you could sell it to him and make up the difference =P

Retail Ric pickups go for $150.

Which is weird because you would think that Pburgh would be swarming with doom bands. Especially when the atmosphere is steel factories and cityscape.

Is the metal scene pretty decent in general?

We have a great scene and some pretty good bands. But Sistered and Vulture and probably the only two that have any kind of out of town following, and it's not that much. Shame cause they are both really solid bands.

Gotcha so it may actually be worthwhile.... Also looking at the specs on the fakenbacker listing for the string height (7/64) and looking at Ric "how to" setup pages the factory string height is 3/32 (which is 6/64) so really the action isn't that far off (only 1/64th of an inch), and since I'd be filing the nut for bigger strings anyway it shouldnt be too big of an issue.... I guess I'm gonna have to wait and see how the auction pans out, I'm gonna stick to my 500$ limit if it goes over then oh well, if not.... then i just might be joining the Fakenbacker club.

I was thinking of doing that, or waiting to see if anyone bids and if nobody doesnt, messaging him telling him I saw the listing on TB and asking if he would relist it at 400$ BIN + shipping. It's a game of risk to try and save a few dollars.
