Yea, I bet that Ad200 rig sounds sweet. For My tonal bliss, the old V-4 rig is the BIZ, but I dont care for hauling it to jam or random gigs. I was a bit apprehensive at first (being it reminded Me of the "Dukes" lunch box I carried to school when I was a kid), but I love the TB-500. Paired with the fearful, it gets real nasty with extreme clarity. Soon (when I get off My lump and build it), I will be adding a 15-sub to the 15/6. I'm thinking, that it'll really "bring the dookie" when I get it all done. | I've been looking at those pickups, but so far i've been more than happy with the ones i have in there now. But i will def keep that suggestion in mind.
The TB500 is the AD series preamp with a 500wat SS power amp right? Like Laz's TB1000? Judging from his clip they sound bad ass, I'm a tube fanatic though which is why i got the AD200B, well that and i traded a reissue Sunn model T for it so it only cost me 650$ Quote:

Yeah my main guitarist, is all about less is more. He has a great picking hand too. And doesn't throw in a bunch of notes. He actually takes a riff someone else wrote, and deletes notes. That's why I've been jamming with him for 3... 4 years now. He gets it. haha.
He actually thanked me the other day for getting him off radio metal.

I play in a project with a very technically apt guitarist and a drummer who's more of the rock side of metal (and I'm more a rock bassist too). When the guitars get real progressive, the drummer and I get real straightforwards. When the guitars ring out stuff, we get weird. It works, in my opinion. When guitarist goes off we're locking down the song, keeping the groove going without taking away from the rest of it.

Agreed, its what their made for. | Yea, That's what I understood, basically it is the AD200 pre section+ SMPS powersection. I haven't got to listen to Laz's clips of His TB-1000 yet(here at work), but I'm betting that they sound damn good (I'll listen later at home). Without a doubt, (IMO) the TB series are THE best sounding micros being made.
Wow, that sounds like a once in a lifetime score on Your AD200! |

Wow, that sounds like a once in a lifetime score on Your AD200! | It was a once in a lifetime score. Saw a craigslist ad wanting to trade the AD for a guitar head, and he said he was mainly looking for a Sunn. So i hit the dude up, turns out we knew OF each other and he came out. I also threw in the matching 4x12 to sweeten the deal for him but i only paid 100$ for that so it was like i really traded him 750$ worth of stuff for it, but I'm not complaining at all. What's funny is a month later i saw the sunn i traded him on CL, turns out he went and bought an AD140 like a week after we traded.

I know that back when, most of what We were playing (a bit different stuff though)was tuned 1 and 1/2 steps down from standard "E" (C#). From what I recall the guage sized set I ran back then was a 110-055 on a four string, and I seem to recall it working pretty well. FWIW- I am gonna set-up one of My basses to get started on woodshed'n on some stuff to get Me all warm and cozy before I jump in with trying to get a project going. |

If you want some slack in the strings I'd suggest .50-.120 for C# or .55-.125 if you want better tension.

However, they are kind of loose feeling at an E or D, so I will probably try some 110's and see how it goes. Just for sport, I am probably gonna set-up My recently aquired "Fakenricker" for the first go around. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
