That really is the best way to grab the attention of people for this genre, huh? I think we can use the term desert rock, in Colorado.

Anywhat, saw Refused in Melbourne last night. Absolutely awesome, could not fault them. Sounded exactly like they should have. Only bad point - didn't play Pump The Brakes. :C

Are you looking for people to rope into doom, or are you looking for people already into it?
I had the best luck when I wrote a short bit about what I wanted to sound like, and then linked four tracks from YouTube that were inspirational in what I wanted to do.
It's not really what I ended up doing, but the ad caught the attention of my current band and it was in the retro doom neighborhood, so we knew we were on the same wavelength. It can be nice to have something different to bring to the table as long as you also have that something in common.
So yeah, I'd mention Sabbath, but I'd also mention a few other bands to give people touchstones. If you're doing desert rock, say so and link some songs. People might not know the name of the genre, but they're going to recognize the sound if they're at all familiar with underground heavy music. |

My drummer had never heard of them and I converted him, its his favorite band now. And my guitar player just thought that anyone with Earthless in their reference list would be along the same cosmic nod wavelength. I think he was right. Anyone that can dig those guys, I might just get along with.
Also, got the new speakers. Oooooooooooh baby! They sound fine. I've never heard my tone so clear before, especially fuzz. Those squarebacks were so crunchy and broke up. It's good to have 4x15's again. Especially knowing these ones will last. Now to add those 2 18's.
In non Doom related news, I put up an ad on craigslist for a funk band, that Vulfpeck inspired me, already got a promising email. Maybe, I'm just lucky with craigslist. |

So, it's a description for a total newb. Hopefully, we get some people to turn out. I want to rock so bad
nighty.

New guy here (and somewhat of a noob when it comes to stoner music). Been lurking the TB forums for years and finally stumbled into the little corner of awesome you guys have carved yourself out here since I'm now looking to get some kind of stoner/doom project going since my thrash/power metal band is basically going in reverse now.
Musicians are pretty scarce in my neck of the woods though so hopefully I'll be able to put something decent together. I've been diving headlong into finding awesome bands to check out in the genre and I'm just eating up what I'm finding.
I found some awesome stuff in this very thread actually. I also bought Laz's EP...awesome stuff dude!
I don't know if you guys know of a band called Камни (Kamni)? They're from Russia and I just discovered them randomly and I'm really digging their album A.T.O.M. It's like Indian psychedelia influenced stoner stuff. Similar to the later OM stuff I guess in a way. Totally blew me away when I first heard it. They also have an EP that's awesome. It's more straightforward stoner/doom though.
Here's my fave song by them Shiva THC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_Z0IqAIPpY
The whole album is amazing though. |

Sticking it in some green tolex box would do such a thing! haha Quote:

Those early Dismember albums were pretty sweet too. |

The only problem is you have to have one side open on the headshell (the side with the DI), but it could still be pretty cool! I'm currently contemplating striping the tolex of my AD200B and staining the headshell to match my emperor cabs, just not sure all the effort will be worth the cosmetic upgrade.
