That plus I have an Orange AD200B on the way as well. Really pumped to get to try that out. I'll probably get two OBC115s to go with it eventually too. |

Corey, that track sounds great, and the mix between guitar and bass is right where I like it. |

There are probably too many to list but these are the ones i can think of off the top of my head.
Bluebeard
Grey Stache
Supercollider
Tall Font Russian
Pharaoh
Box of War | Sam Beat me to it. I would start with a Grey Stache or a Bluebeard... They seem to get the most love in this thread, but the Tall Font Russian, and Box of War have pretty solid followings as well, and to the best of my knowledge are variants of the same circuit.. Not sure what circuit the Pharoh or Supercollider is based on but I think the Supercolliders can get pretty beastly from what I've seen online. Quote:

Also have some Jam-Time scheduled with my drummer buddy tomorrow while my lady is out of the house... AND it looks like I'll be making it out to OM & Dan Higgs Friday! Also, thanks for the Holly Hunt.. Band sounds sweet.. |

Semi-related: Anyone ever use that Sunn Preamp pedal? I think it was called Eclipse, but I may be wrong. I just remember it was supposed to emulate the sound of a Sunn head, including the fuzz. Any idea what I'm talking about?

I also found it far too uncontrollable. I like a more rounded, focused fuzz on bass and you just don't get that with a Muff. I could see it being useful in the studio, but not so much live.
In way other news, I just cannot stop listening to Porcupine Tree lately. Again.

I gave up getting a thick fuzz out of it and decided to use it for low-gain grit, but even that it just kind of mushy and farty. My black NYC muff sounded better, even though it cut low end.
Sadly, I actually prefer the ODB-3. That should tell you something about the BBM. |

Sadly, I actually prefer the ODB-3. That should tell you something about the BBM. | I think that having an old Big Box Muff is kind of a right of passage, Hell, Cliff used one and it sounded awesome... then again it sounds best during the solo, when there's nothing else happening... I had the pi, and it didn't do it for me.. I still found myself getting drowned out in a mix.. A lot of people have modified the muff circuit(s) over the years... I'm currently using a Monolith Lodestone... I partially bought it just for the sake of owning a monolith that actually got completed. However, it has been my favorite muff variant to date, from what adam, who owned it previously, said it's fairly close to the coveted bluebeard. I think any muff is going accentuate more of the higher frequencies than the lows, but I have found a lot of flexibility in the lodestone by tweaking the Tone and Fuzz settings and using the Volume to maintain unity. I think some of the Grey Staches have some options / mods which probably makes them that much more versatile... |

Nice Family pic man. I think I will just keep an eye out for a good deal on both parts and basses that are almost there. I should pick up a soldering gun and start practicing to be my own pickup pit crew.
Of those, what do you like playing the most?

I got in a cheap pickguard and pickup yesterday that I bought on ebay, so I can piece together the Squier Precision parts I have laying around. The jack that was already wired up broke, but a friend was nice enough to solder a new one on for me. I just need to get the tuners on and string it up. I'm probably just going to sell it on CL, the parts have been gathering dust long enough.
