Yup bridge ground is on the mute. And FYI not a big fan of the hipshot bridge. You might have a weird time finding a way to ground the old bridge since its not flat on the bottom. |

Plus their is a couple springs in there also that would be loose in there. Maybe go to the hardware store and get a lock nut for the thumb screw.

Problem with the hipshot is the saddles wobble. Some people say its because it needs a "proper" setup. I think it is also designed weird. I have a bunch of washers jammed in there with a part of the washer ground flat. Crude but it does the trick. |

Ric owners, do you remove the thumb screws for the mute pad? The other day one of mine fell out for the second time, and its freaking impossible to get it back into the spring. I had my tech do it for me last time. I think I'll just leave it out now. Been really thinking about replacing the bridge. | If you don't use the mute, you could get an aftermarket bridge. I have the hipshot one. Though some of those have saddle wobble issues.
You could also get a new Ric bridge, if you do use the mute. |

It is way more functional for adjusting intonation and string height, though. Then again, with the stock bridge, if you stick to one gauge and brand of strings and one tuning, you'd probably only have to set the intonation and string height once. |

Unfortunately the bridge is pot metal and I don't think it will hold solder. Otherwise you could solder the ground to the bridge. But removing the whole mute assembly and finding a clever way to re ground is your best option IMO. |
