Yup bridge ground is on the mute. And FYI not a big fan of the hipshot bridge. You might have a weird time finding a way to ground the old bridge since its not flat on the bottom.

I just have mine clamped under the edge of the bridge, hangs out a tiny bit, but who's going to notice a tiny wire.

Bored waiting for the Walking Dead to come on. So I took a peek at Portland's craigslist. Sweet bass here:

Eh, maybe I'll just pull the screws and leave it be. Not like I have to adjust the intonation that often.

??? What's intonation have to do with the mute pad? And it won't be grounded if you just remove the thumb screws. Plus their is a couple springs in there also that would be loose in there. Maybe go to the hardware store and get a lock nut for the thumb screw.

Nothing, but I can't intonate the factory bridge because it was designed by an idiot. That would be a benefit of switching to hipshot. I can just leave the screw in on the G string side I guess.

Speaking of Mr.Dunwich, I wants some of those amp pedals because they are awesome and I'm too cheap to buy many awesome amps.

I imagine if you search around you'll find someone who has removed the mute and regrounded the bridge. Problem with the hipshot is the saddles wobble. Some people say its because it needs a "proper" setup. I think it is also designed weird. I have a bunch of washers jammed in there with a part of the washer ground flat. Crude but it does the trick.

From what I've heard, some hipshots wobble and some don't. The one on my Ibanez copy has wobbly saddles. The one on my Ric so far has been quite solid, wobble-free.

Ric owners, do you remove the thumb screws for the mute pad? The other day one of mine fell out for the second time, and its freaking impossible to get it back into the spring. I had my tech do it for me last time. I think I'll just leave it out now. Been really thinking about replacing the bridge.
If you don't use the mute, you could get an aftermarket bridge. I have the hipshot one. Though some of those have saddle wobble issues.

You could also get a new Ric bridge, if you do use the mute.

Naw I don't use the mute. I just assumed the Hipshot bridge was a bit more functional, but sounds like a pain in the ass and I'm lazy so I'd rather just leave it alone lol.

Some use loctite to keep it from wobbling. Maybe it's the earlier hipshot bridges that wobble. I don't know.

It is way more functional for adjusting intonation and string height, though. Then again, with the stock bridge, if you stick to one gauge and brand of strings and one tuning, you'd probably only have to set the intonation and string height once.

Ah you silly Ric lovers, intonation is overrated.

Sure if you're one of those kind of guys who never goes above the 5th fret I actually use that 20th fret C on my E string.

I would talk to your tech and see if he will remove the mute and maybe fire the ground wire down a screw hole when you remount the bridge. Unfortunately the bridge is pot metal and I don't think it will hold solder. Otherwise you could solder the ground to the bridge. But removing the whole mute assembly and finding a clever way to re ground is your best option IMO.
