My band finally recorded a new demo, its on a compilation from the label that put our our last record. Track 6 on the compilation, this was recorded live in my moms basement. Few little things i wish we could have fixed but for a live demo its ok. some other sweet bands on here like vulture, hollenlarm, and gaul.

Speaking of which...I finished arranging that new song. Revised the mix and tweaked the drums a little. I think it's all done being "written". I just need to fine tune some parts and practice it a bunch, then I can properly record it and that will be a whole other ordeal. Not sure if I'm going to get the vocals finished before I do that or wait until everything else is done. I'm really rusty on lyrics and vocals and I'm still not even sure what vocal style to do for it.

Whoa. Killer song! Super heavy intro plus a epic build up of intensity. I really like the guitars in this song. Don`t get me wrong, every thing sounds awesome but I really like the guitars. You`ve got a awesome vocalist too. The dude just knows how to sound good. You recorded this in your mom`s basement? Does she run a studio? I thought the mix was really good. I`m surprised that was done in a basement. Killer song! I`m looking forward to when you dudes put out a album!

You saw PG.99? When you were 15? Dude,I`m a bit jealous. That`s really cool.

Good to hear about the guitars, theyre much more important for my group than i am lol. As long as im filling out the bottom were good. My basement is just our practice space, not a real studio but my guitarist who does all our recordings has pro stuff and knows how to record/mix well. And 3 of us do vocals, main singer does all screaming, i do clean stuff, and my guitarist does clean and backup screaming.
Now im itching to record for real cause theres some stuff we need tondo better when we do this for real. Glad ya dug it tho!
Corey it just gets better and better. You on guitar too?
Man, someone move closer to Corey! This man needs a band!
And dude, if you ever find yourself with the option of moving to Colorado, I'll give you the sweetleaf welcoming. (even if you don't partake, I'll stand outside or something) * that offer extends to pretty much all of you. But Laz, I'll probably have to Laz you. Sorry. It's in the doom handbook.

I'd like to move to the SF Bay area someday. My wife's family lives in San Jose. It's just too ****ing expensive.
+1 to that. All the west cost is getting up there in cost. I can't think about selling my 1300 sqft with unfinished basement(1900 total) and 9,000 sqft suburb lot in good school district ect for around $200k, to buy a similar house in Cali for triple or more. Plus I got a family to move too, so it's not realistic...better be a banging job...
got to check out the new new pedal clip. lataz.

Yeah, that's just me in my home office with a Precision and a Gibson LP Custom running straight into my interface. It's all digital modeling effects and amps, cab impulses, drums sequenced in SuperiorDrummer2 (taken from some midi loops, then customized a bit here and there) and in the box mixing/mastering. Maybe I'll have more luck turning this into a bands, once I get a few songs in the can. My wife even likes some parts of it, so I know it's not too far down the sub-genre sinkhole. In my mind there's still a lot of doom metal and sludge influence, but it's definitely farther towards the melodic tip of Neurosis/Isis style music, which seems to get more traction with a broader group of musicians.

My wife works in San Jose and some of her family lives there. I get offers to play with bands there from time to time all the way up to SF and Oakland, but it's a long commute for practice. My wife wants to move closer to there if she keeps working the same place she is now long term, but we just refinanced our mortgage, so I can't imagine it would be anytime soon.
It's already so expensive to live here, and it's a craphole, I wouldn't even notice the difference living in the bay area. Salinas has been ranked as one of the most overpriced cities in the country to live before, by Forbes or something. Before the real estate bubbled burst, it was ridiculous. Like $550K for a 1000 square foot 2 bedroom house, in neighborhoods within walking distance of gang shootings, in a town with virtually no entertainment or culture outside the rodeo, airshow, a decrepit bowling alley and 2 multiplexes. I don't drink anymore, but there's not even any decent bars here and no music venues. Monterey is about a half hour away, it's just slightly better.

We (SWARM of ARROWS) are on that comp, too (track 4). There are a TON of great bands on there! AND we got to play with The Osedax a few weeks ago...good time for sure, and great dudes!
