I like AERO pickups for my more "doomy" basses as their response goes much lower than most. So I wouldn't let toaster or blenders sway me. If you like the bass, and its acoustic sound, a good set of vey high output passive pups ( Aero Type 1) will make it live like a beast. They are customs so can fit anything.

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

Oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving E'rbody!

Already in the kitchen cooking, family is going to start showing up soon (I always have music playing while I'm cooking, so sadly I will have to turn off - Don't want to explain what ''Lungsmen unearth the creed of Hasheeshian'' means to grandma)

Who else in our little stoned crowd is cooking today?!

Glad I'm not cooking this year, okay let's be honest I only grill/fry things anyway, though I do like deep fried turkey more than an oven cooked bird.

Yeah I also have a 4001 with a toaster in the neck. I'd agree with this assessment. The toaster is a rounder sounding pickup with lower output. It's not as in your face. Also when you blend the toaster with the bridge pickup it's a little smoother sounding than if you were blending 2 high gains together.

If you're going blocky font def number 2. Otherwise I really dig 5 and 4 is also very cool.

I'd probably get 5 personally.

Personally I'd go with No. 4 fuzz. Never was a huge fan of massive block lettering. I demand curves!

Nice! Is it modeled after a particular fuzz? At any rate let us know the details of the giveaway. I'm sure plenty of us would love to own one of these (myself included).

For $30 I don't want to admit the ART Tube MP is tubey or warm but I ran it first in my signal chain last night and I had a consistently buttery tone. I just wish it weren't so gorram noisy.

Makes me want a tube "something" at the front of my signal chain.

I was being a smidge trolly to be honest. That **** isnt super cheap to build from scatch. however it might be possible to do like a gain stage + buffer thing running at 12V or so reasonably priced compared to like a full on tube preamp

Since I play a limited amount of stoner/sludge currently (Even in some stoner tunes we've been kicking around we go to clean at a point) but I didn't want to sacrifice the grind and snarl just for a lower price.

Thanks for the suggestions of dopesmoker.I've got that with me,but I think I've gotta keep it moving a bit!

personally, i find lower output pups grind and snarl (in an old 70's doom way) more than high output. especially when you dig in hard. I prefer to let my amp do the work so with lower ouput pups i turn up the gain and/or volume to compensate. i also find them less compressed and it is easier to keep the preamp clean, which is how i prefer it, and get the dirt from the power section.

I have the high gain neck pickup but my bass still has a relatively low output. It's freaking awesome, whatever it is.

Had a pretty killer show last night. First gig with the Orange amp. I start to sound check and the girl running sound is like "uhh... how high do you have your amp turned up?" I'm like well it literally doesn't go any lower. The volume knob is just below 9:00. So she's just like well ok then...

After the set she said she realized with our style of music that it is good to have that nice thick and LOUD bass. I don't think she was used to bass players having rigs that loud haha.
