So I wouldn't let toaster or blenders sway me. If you like the bass, and its acoustic sound, a good set of vey high output passive pups ( Aero Type 1) will make it live like a beast. They are customs so can fit anything.
Happy Thanksgiving y'all!

| | | | Oh yeah, Happy Thanksgiving E'rbody!
Already in the kitchen cooking, family is going to start showing up soon (I always have music playing while I'm cooking, so sadly I will have to turn off - Don't want to explain what ''Lungsmen unearth the creed of Hasheeshian'' means to grandma)
Who else in our little stoned crowd is cooking today?! |

I'd agree with this assessment. The toaster is a rounder sounding pickup with lower output. It's not as in your face. Also when you blend the toaster with the bridge pickup it's a little smoother sounding than if you were blending 2 high gains together. |

Makes me want a tube "something" at the front of my signal chain. |

That **** isnt super cheap to build from scatch. however it might be possible to do like a gain stage + buffer thing running at 12V or so reasonably priced compared to like a full on tube preamp |

Thanks for the suggestions of dopesmoker.I've got that with me,but I think I've gotta keep it moving a bit! |
personally, i find lower output pups grind and snarl (in an old 70's doom way) more than high output. especially when you dig in hard. I prefer to let my amp do the work so with lower ouput pups i turn up the gain and/or volume to compensate. i also find them less compressed and it is easier to keep the preamp clean, which is how i prefer it, and get the dirt from the power section.

Had a pretty killer show last night. First gig with the Orange amp. I start to sound check and the girl running sound is like "uhh... how high do you have your amp turned up?" I'm like well it literally doesn't go any lower. The volume knob is just below 9:00. So she's just like well ok then...
After the set she said she realized with our style of music that it is good to have that nice thick and LOUD bass. I don't think she was used to bass players having rigs that loud haha. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
