Gotcha, looking at sold ones they rarely go above a grand. It might be better to hold out and get a real one. Still wish that Epi made one so i could hot rod one one da cheepz.

I thought it was a cool story...

Also, now my drummer is like, can we play Denver on 12/21? Argh. I want the first show to be local. And the promoter for the venue has had Colorado Springs bands play for exposure (don't know if thats the case here)... I think I'd rather play our first show in town and for some cash...
Speaking of Giant...Are any of you guys familiar with Iron Giant? They're a local Stonerish rock type deal. They're pretty good. Not a whole lot of awesome music happening in my neck of the woods but these guys are pretty sweet.

Check em out here http://d5digital.bandcamp.com/album/creator-of-scars

Yeah I've always wanted a vol pedal anyway, just never wanted to throw down the scratch for one since I wouldn't use it much. Having a volume + wah at my disposal seems like a good deal.

Okay, after spending money like a "drunkened sailor" on strings this weekend (and setting up My bass a few extra times ), I finally found a set that I think will get Me by till I get some Circlek's in the mail. I wound up liking the GHS "Boomers" 115-50's better than anything else (although, I still wasn't completely happy with them). The feel is there, and they have a nice "growl", but as most GHS stuff I've tried in the past they sound a bit "thumpy" for My taste. So, FWIW- I now have a few set's of strings cut for a "Ric" type bass that I'll probably never use. If anyone wants'em I have a basically new set of EB Power slinky's and a Dunlop 5 string set that I'd throw in the mail to someone for free, just to get'em out of my face.

So if anyone wants'em drop Me a PM, and I'll get'em coming Your way.

Yeah that's why I originally got the power wah volume...I didn't want to spend 80-100$ on just a volume pedal. Might as well get a free wah with it.

Maybe I am alone in this but death metal just does nothing for me, especially cookie monster vocals.

Not doom but anyone else into Steel Pole Bath Tub? I really dig this bass tone, which is good because its all you can hear in this video but this song rules.

+1. I can do some of it. But not all the time.

Now Converge on the other hand has the crazy vocals but I can listen to those guys all the time. Not really DM, though.

Doesn't look like the dude with the 2-15's for $50 is going to get back to me. So, only 4-15's for now.

Yeah i saw that, but its a piece of work. I'd spend as much shipping it here and repairing it as buying a real one. I'm probably just gonna stick to building weird p-basses.... It's cheaper and easier and I can mod the hell out of em without feeling bad. I think my next one is gonna be a single passive MM p/u (right up against the neck) maple fretboard P. Should be interesting. Then after that and build a similar one but with the p/u in the bridge position and a jazz bass pickup right against the neck. Got lots of ideas, but not capital to make em happen...

I thought long and hard about picking this up for the body and then throwing a maple board fender neck on it.

Yeah I'm pretty picky when it comes to "death metal vocals". I don't like super guttural stuff. I like being able to understand the lyrics. I'm usually ok with Chuck Schuldiner style "higher pitched" harsh vocals.

Beebass told me that when he played in Russia with Psyopus he asked one of the guys there about those vintage guitars (there's a ton of cool looking ones on eBay). The guy's response was basically why would you ever want one of those pieces of ****. Apparently the quality is horrible.

The higher pitched style/lower style, back and forth is what I like.

At the Gates/On Broken Wings would be the perfect blend for me.

lol, the guys i talked to thought i was an idiot for wanting such garbage. they were like "theres a reason nobody plays these things and is always trying to buy stuff from other countries".

however, they look bad as **** and at some point id like to start a collection of them for wall art. theres a website for all the body styles out there, ive been to it before but cant remember the address. its got some really cool looking stuff. someone in the states should clone the bodies and make legit instruments out of them.

I'm a sucker for vintage styles with a different twist to them. The Carvin I own, for example.

I saw a Ghost video where Ghoul #2 is playing a different instrument than the SG. It's still white, with almost a dean cadillac vibe to it. It looks mega cool. Fan shot video too.

I think I'm going to spend the holiday putting the stoner board back together. It's in bad shape right now. Also in band news, went to go break the news to the drummer and couldn't do it. It's tuff telling a guy you don't have what it takes when their such a good dude.

I never got much further than Opeth and Nile. Not sure what it is but maybe I'm stuck in a time warp and never got past 2006?
