(for more higgs-ness check out lungfish....) | It was a pretty cool lineup. I liked that it was just the two of them. Seems I am getting old because I don't want to see a ton of bands anymore. Just give me a couple good bands. |

Just started gassing HARD for one of these: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EBTCAWBH/#
Doesn't look good though with the wedding just a few weeks away, and the unplanned 2 week vacation courtesy of Hurricane Sandy. Hopefully the used gear gods will be kind to me, because I don't have anything that I really want to sell at the moment.
Hows everyone else's Saturday?

Eating a turkey sandwich for breakfast and preparing to go shopping for tomorrow's Thanksgiving III feast. My wife and I always end up at our respective family's places for thanksgiving which is busy and stressful. So the weekend after has been deemed Thanksgiving III. I cook a large, somewhat elaborate meal and we watch epic movies. Last year it was all 3 Lord of the Rings movies back to back. Not sure what we'll watch this time. I'm making come curry with lamb, and I'm going to try grilling some Naan bread. |

Have to spend some time with more family later today. That means its time to light up and listen to my Dopethrone vinyl. |

You too hugh?
My next door neighbor that I share a wall with went completely sideways a couple months ago. He has been here for at least two years, but only recently has become a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Its too bad too. He was a cool guy that played guitar, very laid back sort of California personality. Then one day he accused be of spying on him by sending cameras down through the oven vent, from the ROOF!...?? He would think he heard something on the roof, (we do have huge raccoons here) and run outside, climb the apartment stairs and run all over my roof trying to find his assailant. Then he would be pissed off that he didn't find anything. I am no doctor, but I believe he was becoming paranoid schizophrenic. Some days he would be cool, and other days it was like he had been waiting for me to come home to confront me about some new paranoid delusion and make some vague threat of what would happen if he could catch his tormentor. Jesus...
Its given me motivation to carry more often. Anyway, he finally gave the landlord notice that he would be leaving at the end of the month. Thank god... Good riddance to bad baggage.

even after this dude is "gone", keep an eye out for him. I have great compassion for people suffering from mental issues, but there is few things more dangerous than a schizo who fixates on you.

| | | | I think I dove into this genre in an odd way, I'm a student of jazz and classical, I've always been a theory and progressive music hound, but for some reason I've always been drawn to this style of music. I remember being around the age of four when my mom put on "Master of Reality" on during a long car ride, then years later my uncle introducing me to Kyuss and Saint Vitus, few weeks later I started playing bass and I found the almighty Sleep. Now if only match (not force) together prog. and stoner. |

I have great compassion for people suffering from mental issues, but there is few things more dangerous than a schizo who fixates on you. | Thanks. I have been ready for his next move or accusation sense I realized he was loosing his marbles. The one thing I have going for me is that I am not the only one he thinks is messing with him. When he confronted me originally, I calmly explained that besides risking a felony charge, I didn't have any reason to "spy" on him, explained the physical limitations of me being able to do that which he accused me of doing, and come frome inside my house when he thought I was on the roof. So it seemed that I might not have been his only fifty meter target.
I can't imagine that he is better armed than myself, but I don't underestimate crazy people and try to steer clear of conflict. Our last serious conversation on the matter ended with me reminding him of the seriousness of making verbal threats and the consequences of causing anyone any harm. I think that cooled his heels a little.
All said, it will be nice when he moves on to greener pastures.

I like the I get out of mine, but that may just be because it's my only bass with roundwound strings on it, so it's extra growly compared to my other too. I'd play it a lot more (maybe even make it my main) if the neckdive wasn't there. I also don't love not being able to play above the 15th fret comfortably, but I don't do that much so it isn't that much of an issue.
But yeah, the neckdive sucks. Even with a suede strap that mostly locks it in place, I still have to fight it quite a bit. My preferred neck position is about 45 degrees, and you just can't get that without holding it up with a T-bird.
That white is great looking though. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
