Yeah took less than an hour and that's with us fvcking around, it's 4 8ohm speakers all wired in parallel so switch the two pairs to a series system and wire those two in parallel for a total of 8ohms, all the speakers are clipped too so no soldering required.

200lbs of awesome. Also has casters and a kick plate, I had no problem loading it in and out of the car by myself.

lol True, it does have a ton of awesome in it. Corner wheels and kick plate was a must when I got my 215. I need to get some longer skid rails though.

Stop talking about speakers! I already am gassing for more cabs.

Side note, guitar player's volume started going down. Amp might be losing a tube...

Yeah, I've played through my friend's SVT-CL and 810, and it sounds amazing.

As for Ampeg amps in general, the last two times I've seen Yob, the bassist was using what looked like a late 70's SVT and the sound was awesome.

Plus both times I've seen Sleep, and when I saw Shrinebuilder, the bass sound was great, with the Ampegs.

Oh, and when I saw Worm Ouroboros, Lorraine got awesome bass sound with the regular old P-bass through SVT and 810 setup.

I've seen Al with Shrinebuilder and with Sleep. With Shrinebuilder he used a single vintage SVT and 810, with Sleep he used four SVT VR's and 810 cabs, and two PF-500 amps and what looked like two 4x12 cabs the more recent time I saw Sleep (the previous time, he only had three of the SVT setups, and a simple Marshall full stack).

I actually really liked his sound, but to be fair, the feel was a huge part of it. One of the most awesome things I've ever heard. A standout moment was the middle section of "Sonic Titan." Words cannot describe the heaviness.

Fvck it man, when I saw them a few months ago Al decided to stop the gig in the middle of "From Beyond" so I didn't get to hear those two songs properly, not to mention Antarcticans Thawed

Which brings me to the point that "Al doesn't look like the guy who cares that much about tone"... yeah I don't think so, unfortunately. He was shouting stuff at the sound tech all the time inbetween songs. Not sure about his personal tone, but when it comes to monitors he is a bitch

And lights too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atuLkSZ5nPk

For the longest time, we (my band) have talked about putting one bass cab and one guitar cab on either side of the stage. Our guitarist finally got a 2nd cab, so we can do it now! While I'm really psyched about the prospect, part of me feels a little pretentious showing up to gigs with a poop load of gear... Another part of me could care less, we are doing it for fun, and it's more fun to be stupid-loud and get into some amplifier worship!

Thoughts?

Comb filtering. If you don't mind that, then go ahead; it does look cool.

I played the most un Stoner/Doom set up today at GC and actually really dug it.

Stingray anniversary edition through a Markbass Randy Jackson sig hybrid head and a Markbass 4x6 cab.

I was really shocked at how good the everything sounded

Do it! Reckon it might take some tweaking to get the right levels for on stage sound, but having one another's sound playing directly behind you instead of on the other side of stage has gotta be helpful.

More amps = More volume = More DOOM!

Do it! I can't be the only one with more gear than they need.

Then some thread pops up on TB, I was at this gig where these crazy bass players were using two stacks. Haven't they ever heard of in-ear?

The 4x6 was already hooked up to the head so it's what was available. Like Is aid though I was shocked at how good the damn thing sounded. The head was around $550, which seemed pretty reasonable.

Right on. Its hard to argue with your ears. Sometimes I hate when I find a good sound that I like at the music store with all different equipment that what I usually use. Then it is sort of a guessing game as to what is making it sound good. Is it the SVT 7PRO?, the 810 cab, or the stingray? Hrrrm? I am ok with liking something that is totally different that what I run, because I like what I got and it works for me. For me its I just dig it for being a different flavor.

For instance, I love the was Rics sound, but because of the ergonomics of the base and the height of where I wear it, it is not something I see myself owning. I have gotten too used to Fender contours to rock much of anything with a hard edge.

It is easy to also be biased to a piece of gear too. I know Markbass makes some good gear, but I can't get past that it looks like a piece of construction equipment to give it much of a try.
