She didn't appreciate that. | Dude... winning. |

Been told both good and bad things about it so I really can't say anything - aside from drink prices being pretty bad. | It's got it's ups and downs. It's definitely a pricey venue, but I have had some pretty darn good nights there. They put on a fair bit of stoner rock stuff (FFUUUUU MMMANNNCCHHUUU).A little birdy also tells me truckfighters will be playing there in may next year.
They had EyeHateGod,Tumbleweed,Dern Rutlidge and My Left Boot at this festival,in terms of stoner rock.
The thing about the festivals they put on there,is that they put beer prices through the roof - $7.50 for a can of carlton draught!

Some dude in another thread posted this video of Demonaut, saying that non-singing bassist played through the Bluebeard... But I've interested more in the sound of singing bassist... May be some of you know about his dirt set-up? Cheers! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOZOy...eature=related |

Guitar guy is obsessing over his tone (which is fine, we all do), but decided to play at minimal volume to avoid "break up". Now I'm not one to scoff at turning down, but when I did I had to turn it back up because he couldn't hear me (?). To top it off, drummer guy got a new HUGE ride cymbal, which I'm standing 2-3 feet from. All I could hear was cymbals, vocals and bass. I've always thought that wanted more bass, bass louder than everything else. But not being able to hear the guitar well seriously ****ed things up. I played like ****. |

On that note, a recent bout of musicless self derivation led me to answering CL ad's again. Turns out I replied to guy that I've known for years. Evidently he and another guitarist are working on some Desert Rocky - Fu Manchu style stuff with some shoe gaze influence. Regardless the level of personality and communication has far surpassed my last CL debacle. Even though this project may lack a degree of DOOM, it shows promise. And if it doesn't work out at all, the guitarist I know would love to do a doomy sludge project. Things are looking good for the new year
Also Coffee is excellent. I usually don't use soymilk (or anything) but I have soem left over from cooking last weekend. Why is it so good? Strong Coffee + a little soymilk is like instant Latte... Not quite, but also not $5. |

Also, I find it’s good to be able to play without looking at your strings because there are some super dark stages. Like the Sidebar in Baltimore. Delmarva folks know what I’m talking about. |

All in all, I figured I needed to get out of the house, so I went to this last night.
Damn good show. I was a bit shocked that Om would be playing the 529, as it's such a small venue (about the size of a two car garage). Sound was fair, but the vibe was awesome. |

Delmarva folks know what I’m talking about. | We've actually been having issues playing live. Drummer can never seem to hear the guitarist he cues off of very well. Of course he's a drummer, so he doesn't mention this until we've already soundchecked and played half the set. |

Not quite, but also not $5. | Since I've discovered the french press and grinding my own dark roast beans super fine, adding a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg (not enough to taste, just to calm the stomach), I can make strong-ass sludge coffee that packs a punch and doesn't make you sh*t uncontrollably all day. Been rockin a thermos of that every morning for a few weeks now.
So what would you do if you had basically a whole band set up, singer+guitarist+drummer+bassist, everyone's good and gets along and knows their parts and sounds good and you have around an hour of finished material, BUT your singer suddenly gets a new job and is only free for practice/gigs on Saturdays?

When I moved into my house a while back we never got cable or a house phone. We were so busy getting settled that we didn’t miss it. We would rent movies or buy dvd box sets online to watch after the kid goes to bed. My son can watch the same movies over and over and for the 1 maybe 2 hours a night I get to myself I’d rather be playing guitar, watching some new blockbuster (I f'n love Redbox and ****** movies), or reading (quite rare these days).
I had internet for a while but I cancelled it when I was done grad school. I have a smart phone and if I must use my computer I can tether if need be.
My wife wants to open an at home daycare in the near future and we’ll need a house phone to get certified. House phones are ultra expensive so we’ve been looking at cable/phone/internet packages from the cable companies and they are getting quite aggressive with the deals.
I guess I’m just wondering if it’s worth the $100+ a month for this stuff. When I was young and lived alone I had all the premium channels and cable modems and all that jazz. I’ve gone over a 1 ½ years without it and I don’t really miss it. I fear that any productivity I may have had since I moved to my new place will be erased by South Park reruns.
So…here’s a quick poll. Do you guys have cable? Is it worth it to you? Do you just have it because you're supposed to? |

Otherwise I could get by just fine using Netflix/Hulu/my pirate ship. As soon as there is some internet alternative that lets you watch sports in HD, I'll cancel my cable. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
