@jerreymcdougal: audio pots do not behave the same in either direction. google up some pot-tper graphs and you'll see why. | Yep, makes total sense. The schem I used asked for reverse audio taper, but just assumed I could flip the pot. Looks like I can "make" a reverse Audio taper pot though, with a resistor across some legs. Maybe I'll give that a shot. Thanks a lot! |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Apr 2012 Location: Bendigoat | | Finally got a chance to try out the FZ-2 yesterday (mental health day).
Ran my ESP/LTD AX-400 (Mahogany, EMG 81/81) --> FZ-2 --> Eminar P606 --> Eminar 2x15
Amp EQ was flat. Wasn't terribly impressed with the Fuzz 1 setting. Couldn't find a sound that was really good, unlike the Fuzz 2. So I set it to Fuzz 2, dimed the bass knob, instant EW territory. Would probably sound better with passive pickups. Gets some weird almost chorus-y/octave up sounds with higher gain.
The garage where my amp lives isn't exactly acoustically tuned (concrete walls and floor) so I'll need to try it somewhere else and try it on bass as well. The reflections in the garage were pretty bad.
Very, very heavy sound out of this pedal.

Note, the day I wear your shirt, is the day there is a sweet blog about you. First Monobrow, now Supervoid. Although, I think there would have been a super sweet write up regardless.

| | | | Anyone care to point me towards the right fuzz pedal for a great sludge/stoner sound? I've got a Bongo 5 going into an Ibanez Sound Wave 100. I'm not overly picky about the sound, I'd just like to hear what you guys think goes best with that setup. I was looking at the ehx big muff pi and the wooly mammoth. The ehx seems a little better for me since its <$100 but I don't know. |

Maybe try something like an El Oso. Very awesome pedal and can be had for around $125 new when Prymaxe Vintage is having a sale.
You don't need tubes! But they certainly are fun. But you can still kill it with an inexpensive solid state rig.
And get big speakers or lots of small ones! |

There are quite a few fuzz pedals making the rounds in this thread right now.
Bluebeard
Big Bass Muff (a good starter into the world of fuzz)
El Oso
Rat Tail
Grey Stache
Supercollider
Ox Fuzz
I say hit the TB classifieds (so if you don't like something, you can flip it at almost no cost). Lastly, good luck!

It can be had for under $100 used. You have a really good bass i would really look to invest in a new rig before pedals. Your amp my not like the pedals you put into it. |
