Well looks like the results are the same as mine 2,1,3. So time to dump some pups and order that p-46. Going to throw the flats back on the '74 tonight and might record a clip of my soloed p in my p/j just for reference. Thanks guys

I have! I love that movie, it was a total mindfvck realizing it was directed by Peter Jackson. My favorite is the Rabbit who gets the STD.

One more pedal name suggestion: Ratsmagic - after the semi-obscure children's book with bad-ass illustrations by Wayne Anderson.

I wasn't able to post last night but I did listen to your links. To be honest I wasn't sure why you posted them but hear's my thoughts:

#3 is what my p bass sounds like flat (no eq).

#2 & #1 is what my p bass sounds like throught the BDI21 for some tubey emulation.

To get #2 & #1 without a fancy pedal or an SVT, I would use an active Jazz bass or maybe a Musicman.

No kidding. I love all that retro-fantasy artwork. Brian Froud type stuff.

Good to hear... is it doing that weird cutting out thing any more? Any concerns about that?

It only did that when we were messing around. I haven't noticed it since. Not sure what the deal was with that. Working great now so I'm just letting it slide.

Ayone here ever try a Mesa PH 412? found a local one and from what I understand Mesa cabs are pretty solid. I like the idea of the adjustable crossover and since I have the HPF Pre I am not overly concerned about it being a ported cab as I have a lot of control over the low end.

My coworker has the 2-12" Mesa. He loves it. He is super into old metal like Maiden. Says it nails the Steve Harris. He is using a USA P bass into a M3 through the 2-12". He says it handles all the low end he throws at it. I can imagine the 4-12" being twice the cab

I have not played it. But, I trust his tone profile. If you have the scratch, do it. Mesa keeps value. Go used and if you flip, you don't lose anything. That is one thing about Mesa Boogie, They hold value fairly well.

Volt Thrower is a pretty badass name for pedal. I'd get one (as long as it sounded brutal).
