Any thoughts? | I had EMG's in my green P... I liked the output alot but they had a honkiness to the mids that I just could not dial out and totally ruined the tone for me. Their quiet but my SD SPB-3's are just as quiet IMO. I much prefer the SD's I switched too.

My tone goals as of press time are a scooped clanky dirt with a lot of bite. Sort of like Rex Brown.
My dirt pedal can get there with a nice scooped bass or a scooped preamp after it. | if you want rex just get a spectre and a sansamp and be done with it. |

that head did kick ass tho, definitely got really loud and sounded awesome for a 120-200 watt tube head from 1970. i could see myself buying another one at some point. ill probably ditch the acoustic 220 at some point and snag another tube head, but we'll see. |

Any thoughts? | I have active EMGs in two of my basses - a Spector NS-2A and a Samick. Personally, I love the sound of them. Edgy, crisp and present but without lacking bottom end. My Warwick has MECs which sound pretty close to them as well.
If you like that traditional rounded (which to me sounds flat and lifeless) tone, then they simply aren't for you. But if you like articulation in your sound then I'd highly recommend trying them out.

Wasn't it wider then any of your (at least then) cabs? I remember it being seemingly awkwardly placed on top of one of your cabs, maybe its just my memory though.

I guess they would if ya roll the mids off like crazy, but then it would get clanky too.

The 3 bands have a flatter response. |

The guy I fixed it up for cant put it down and now favors it over his wal bass. I also have had a bit of gas for one since I have it back. I still kinda want a sterling SR 5. |

I've wanted a MM since I was 13. Never even played one. Same with Rics. I'm afraid to play something expensive. haha. Because then I'll look at credit cards.
