The Jack Cassidy is light and sexy but the tone selector doesn't give you a lot of useable sounds, IMO. The gretsch basses sounded better to me. And the necks reminded me of a ric.

Its a Guild Starfire re-issue made through Dearmound. I had one, regret selling it, it was a fuzz monster. They go used for around $500-800. |

* I DO NOT say feedback is unwanted!
Gibson Midtown looks great... but I don't know, no chance to test it where I live. | When you say that you`d go with the Epi are you referring to the Jack Casady and not the Rivoli? And I agree that not all feedback is unwanted.I do like the notion that with the Gibson Midtown I wouldn`t have to worry about fighting feedback tho. Quote:

Can you elaborate on the tone selector of the Casady and what you didn`t like about it? Quote:

When I first saw the Casady years ago I thought it was ugly, but for the past few years I`ve been wanting it more and more. The strongest reason for wanting the Rivoli(besides just really diggin` the looks) is the fact that it`s out of production so they`re a bit harder to come by.
If only I had the money for both(and a RD Artist to boot!).

Two of the three setting are just thin, weak, and honky. Honky in a bad way. But. The third setting is thumpy, bassy, and just really ****ing good sounding. Plays really nice. Super light, but well balanced. It's a beautiful bass.
I'd like to find a used one and get a better pup. I liked the sound of the Ibanez art core more but the Cassidy looks way better.

that would make for a pretty fun "custom" bass!
