The Yamaha BB series should also be considered, as well as US Peavey.

Yes! See? A little modern and a little vintage. That's how I tried to design my carvin (sans fancy top).

That bass is a beauty. Whoever got that one, has a real looker and I'm sure, an excellent player too.

I used the Carvin bass builder to do a B50 fretless with the same spalted top. right around $1600. Yikes!

The minute this genre starts making stupid rules is the minute I don't want to be a part of it. Maybe there are some general consensuses, but all and all, use what works for you because you are the only one that has to use it.

In that boat, I think a tuner should be mandatory gear. So, I guess there is one rule, but it's the rule of music. Not the rule of doom.
NO RULES! I didn't care about conforming to genres cliches when I was in punk bands and I still don't now. If I want to be in a stoner metal band that wears 3 piece suits, sings 4 part harmonies and play a 5 string bass, I will and I'll rock the hole right out of your butt while doing it.

Pretty much. Fvck doom cred and whatnot. But I've always liked playing weird set ups, basses and stuff. As long as they play decent and sound ok, great. The weirder the body shape the better haha.
I'm tired of Les Pauls and SG's. And $3000 amps. You don't have to have that to rock/doom the hell out.

edit:
$3000 amp that should be $1000... Basically overpriced name brand whatever.

DOOM cred is whatever you got, but that wont stop me from drooling over a dude who has a mint original Model T with 2 matching and equally as mint 2x15's.

I agree to a point. I personally love SG guitars. I love LPs too, but not the weight. Something about the Hog/Hog/with the 1/4" maple cap that just sounds so freaking amazing. But damn it if they don't weigh 10lbs.

I play doom with Fender's, probably the least doomy brand there is. But I still have like a 5k $ amp setup.....

Yeah. I need to physically handle one of those at some point. I can't wrap my head around it looking at one.
