The guitarist in my black metal band has one of those old Peavey amps with the tube power section and solid state preamp section. Sounds great with a dirt pedal.

Suggestions?
wait a minute, your bassballs is plugged in backwards and your phaser has no input. that was like a fun game of 'i spy' trying to work that out.

Hi guys,

I'm not in a band yet, it's impossible to find anyone who likes this kind of music in Ohio, but I'm digging reading this thread and listening to all your guys' bands.

Are any of you guys from around Cleveland? I'm trying to find the good metal scene here, but everyone likes Five Finger Death Punch....

Wrong. Ohio is a freaking stoner rock mecca! Neon Warship, Lo-Pan, Valley of the Sun, EYE, By Way of Sunstorm, Mockingbird, probably missing a few...

Wow, I guess I didn't realize we did have a decent amount of stoner rock bands... Interesting. I'm not a big fan of stoner rock though, The Sword's the only one I can tolerate because I love their lyrics. I'm more into metal...

I did like Mockingbird and By Way of Sunstorm, thanks for pointing those out. I'll follow them, go to some shows if they're nearby or something and see if I can meet some people.

I played a Fulltone OCD today in a store. It sounded pretty cool. It was hard to tell what it really sounded like because it was coming through a GK combo w/ a tweeter. It sounded better once I turned off the tweeter.

Does anyone here have one of these pedals? What do you think?

Or,

Does anyone here use blender pedals? What do you use, and how do you like it?

I use a $40 copy of the ocd in tandem with my el oso and love it.

How do you guys with el osos use them most? High gain stuff? or low gain drive? I've been checking out demos online and I'm kind of torn. I don't know if I dig em.

I've had the OCD and its a great gritty distorted bass sound. I'm currently using a Fuzzrocious Demon king which is their bass improved OCD clone with some extra mods.

I love the DK, it's replaced my other pedals as my favorite/go to gain pedal.

I also have my DK modded with a clean blend, personally I like being able to add just a little bit of clean to a distortion/overdrive pedal. It adds a lot of depth and clarity to the low end, it works great for me.

As far as clean blend pedals go the Boss LS-2 is a great and cheap option, plus it can be used for all sorts of other things.

I've heard good things about the Xotic, and One Control blends. But I'm thinking of picking up a Badger Schism to try out parallel blending and all sorts of other cool stuff.

I love the OCD. i think i will eventually end up owning one again. i do not find the Oh See Demon very similar at all. the OSD is darker and fuzzier than the OCD. the low end is better on the OSD but not great. i am going to hold out for the Dunwich OCD and if that doesnt do it i may just go with the OCD + clean blend. i think i finally know what i want in an OD tone and its one where the lows stay clean and only the mids and highs get distorted. anytime the low freqs distort all pedals i have tried end up sounding like a fuzz. which i dont want from my OD.

It does often seem that way. i love the bass tone in the JGR preamp clips. just wish i could get there without a pick...the OCD is the closest, the plexidrive second but the plexi doesnt need a clean blend.

The VFE Triumverate seems interesting but might be too high gain.

i use my El Oso as a mid/treble/flavour booster on top of my Bluebeard (run at mudbutt settings) for heavier riffs. in one song i use it as a QOTSA-style blended distortion though.
