Had the second practice for the new band tonight and got a second song in the can. Lots ofof heavy groove going on and a lot of opportunity for extended jams. Tones are sounding monstrous as well. Can't wait to get the whole new rig going though.

Have you ever had a bass that half of you wanted to sell, and the other half wanted to keep? I have been on the fence about my somewhat recently purchased MIM Fender Precision Bass Special. I bought it used from GC for about $200, partly because I was curious about the Fender P/J and partly because I figured that if I didn't like it, I could flip it and maybe make a little extra to reinvest in something else. When I got it, it looked like a cast away. There were dumb sticker that had only been partially removed covering ALL the fret inlays and more sticker goo on the anodized PG.

I managed to get her cleaned up, I had been referring to it to my GF as the "dirty bitch." She cleaned up well, a little on the heavy side compared to my other P and J basses, but not too bad. I dare say she does not look bad. I am not a huge fan of RW boards, but I think it might be growing on me.

It has been listed on CL for a while, but now that I have gotten a few emails asking about the bass, I feel the urge to keep her. I think I will play it a bit to seal the deal one way or another. I might make ~200 in potential profit, but I am starting to feel that overall, its not too much about the money. Maybe I am just turning into crazy bass guy that hordes too much crap. lol

I'm always on the fence about one or two basses but I end up sticking them in a corner and rotating around. But the basses are either sorta worthless (parts bass) or vintage (grabber) so ill either lose my ass on one or let it rot and go up in value down the road. Your case just jam it a little more you hands and ears will help you judge whether to keep Or dump.

Nice bass Bull. The MIM Fenders are pretty sweet IMO. Paid $350 for my Blacktop Jazz and really dig it. I plan on upgrading the hardware to hipshot and get some Delano pickups. Plays great though.

Yeah, I recently let go a 90s Danelectro longhorn, and that was very difficult. Not so much a money issue as a scale problem. Switching from short scale to long always took a minute of adjustment for me. So that meant it was never going to get used on a gig. Still it was an awfully fun bass. If I accidentally become loaded I'd pick up another.
The instinct to hoard is strong with this one.

I couldn't get used to the medium scale on the destroyer and ultimately why I sold it.

I had Greco hollow for a while. Sounded fine but it's thin wood felt like a toy in my hands...

Last summer I bought super cheap (30$) and extra crappy Polish Defil hollow, as I said it's extra crappy and ever more shi**y but I love it's sound. I'm going to make DIY pickup for it (coz original ones are extra crappy, ever more shi**y and far more useless), mount EHX bass-booster and play some feedback doom.

Here's Greco:

Pick it up regardless!!! If you don't end up using it I'll take it off your hands!!! I'd scoop it up right now if I could get my @$$ to delaware but with two kids and one on the way it's hard to get a chance to drive out there.

Yup I'm sold on em now as well, they also break in super quick. I've had 2 straps for 4 days now and there's no creases from being stored in a certain position and have settled nicely.

I wish I could sell one of the acoustics I have, that would mean awesome bass stuff, alas they legally arent mine to sell.

I ask myself if I legitimately think I will use a bass for something. If the answer is no, I get rid of it. That's why I only have two basses right now, with a third being built.

I know that feel bro, I have my 2 p-basses that are setup near identical for my main and back up. Then I keep one bass around in E standard for the wifey or band mates to use. Anymore and they'd just sit around gathering dust.

I don't like selling basses... I always end up longing for them and regretting it. I say keep it and eat ramen .

Man, they really need some better resources for finding a band. I miss the old myspace with the band classifides... who can beat having the classifides in the same spot as most bands homepages? Craigslist sucks, bandmix is a rip off mostly, these weird musolist and band talent sites seem scammy... might as well go live in GC and whore myself out.

Thanks! Thats a really old version on soundcloud, its much better now And we go past the 20 min mark on it. Its grown into our epic.

Im interested by this fuzz as well, so thick!

We recorded some songs last night, they came out really good, good enough for demos to give to people. Hopefully will have those up soon.

Why not go to a show and introduce yourself as a bassist to one of the bands, I'm sure they know someone looking for one? You should have a band in about 20 seconds, I've had dudes come up saying they played guitar, drums and sang but not once has a bassist ever come up and introduced himself

If things are unused they get sold. That's how I am with pretty much all my music gear. That being said, I still have two super cheap basses that I can't sell due to the sentimental value outweighs the minimal money I'd get for them. I also used to make basses with my uncle when I was in highschool/college. However, the problem when making custom guitars when you're a teenager is that when you grow up some you realize that things that look cool aren't always the best for what I wanted feel/tone wise out of a bass. I can never sell those either, so they're currently chilling at my parents how looking great.

I only have 1 gig amp, my two cabs, and the combo for home playing. I have that empty hiwatt cab, but that even is questionable of whether or not I will ever fix it up/keep it.

I'm currently debating selling my unused pedals, as I keep trying to arrange them into a "board" for some sort of project/band that doesn't and will never exist...and I've been doing that for about 3 years now. If I sold off the stuff that is unused I can pay off the last of my debt, and not be bothered by unused things and the hypothetical projects I will never do with them.

You should try being a lefty, I have 7 guitars, none of which I can part with () because the odds of me finding another one that I like are slim, there's a few I could let go of though, but then again, trying being a lefty and selling a guitar

A week ago I made a joke on FB about starting a drum and bass project and looking for interested guitar players.

I just wanted some lulz but a couple nights after an acquaintance asked me if I was serious about the drum and bass, then I remembered he is a quite good drummer and he is looking for a band (only problem is he sold his kit a few months ago) .

Even though I have no time for a third band, the idea of having my own Al Cisneros worshiping rip-off band is soooooooo seducing. Should I?
