Probably sell off my SG and Tele to make a Telemaster to my own specs to do Standard E stuff.

Uncle passed. They say we can't do a funeral till the ground thaws. That and helping mom pay med bills has killed my gas. My cab is on hold. Progress on the ep stalled. No bites on my 410410he cab I put on craigslist. Music go round says my working minty svt 3 pro is only worth $225. Grrrrrr. I need a loud gig. Soon. |

Im looking for a Peavey CS800 that isnt $250, I've seen them go for sub $150. Waiting patiently for a deal because my Acoustic works fine, just wish I had two channels to separate the 18s and 15s.
But thanks for thinkin of me!
About stacking...
I stacked my 215s vertically, it was stable and it wasnt even on level ground, the whole stack could wobble back and forth, but I never felt it would fall over. I horizontally stack 3 cabs now, really thought that would be like Jenga, but nope, at least not yet. |

I'm actually curious at this point, is a dually or equally super efficient 215 as loud as 415s + 218s? Its obviously over triple the cone surface area, can the super science in greenboy cabs really make it that much louder?
Niff, Love the logo.

| | Mr. Copeland | | Join Date: Aug 2012 Location: Tacoma, WA | | | Me and my guitar player are preparing for when our drummer moves out of the state within the next couple months. Met up with a pair of dudes that looks to be a great fit. One does drums and one does vocals. Looks like they're stoked to potentially be on board with the whole thing.
Then there's the current drummer. We've been completely honest with him about what we're doing as far as planning for when he leaves, but he's obviously butthurt. It sucks. We're hoping to get a least one show in with him before he leaves the state, but I'm not sure if the vocalist we met up with will be willing to play without the drummer (they're a package deal sort of thing). There are potential awesome shows on the horizon if this all works out. |

Niff, Love the logo. | The combination of good design and high powered speakers. I still say put Laz's speakers in Toast's Sunn. That would be a nice pairing.

What is the average weight on those? 10lbs? With that in mind, my OLP was about 9.5lbs and it had some badass tone going on once I got the SD Basslines put into it. Man, and sparkle blue too... oh well.
Niff, your awesome art reminded me how much I need to harass my art friend some more.

Where as it seems like a lot more companies make single, dual and split coil pickups in that standard Bartolini size soapbar. I did a lot of research beforehand, but it tied my brain up in knots too. I already ended up changing pickups once and I'll probably do it again, as I've been wanting to replace them with regular single coils or a P/J style configuration lately. | The pickups on EGCs are hard mounted, that's part of their sound, the bridge and neck are all one unit that sits in the body with the pickup hard mounted. As per Kevin "The pickups are hard mounted on the neck, so changing them is a bit involved, but doable."

One super efficient cab. Laz you say you can peel plaster off the walls...
or
A quantity of "inefficient" cabs. I mean my 215s have normal eminence speakers in them, and my cabs arent designed to perfectly match the specs of the speakers. And my 2x18 is really a 2x15 cab with 18s stuffed in them, that cant be soncially efficient. But I can blur vision with my setup.
Its like new age technology DOOM vs. stonehenge rock and sticks DOOM.
Like I said, if I ever get to try a Dually/greenboy cab and if it can do what I do with 3 cabs, in one cab, I'd be stupid not to go for one cab.

| | Brock Samson | | Join Date: Aug 2010 Location: Pittsburgh | | I'm not sure why Joe is so set on putting the Kappas into Toast's Sunn, unless he's just curious as to if the Sunn would sound good with them. The Dually will still be louder because it was designed with the speakers in mind.
As far as the Dually versus the mountain of cabs, that is also kind of an odd comparison. What is your definition of better? The Dually sounds fantastic, and is half the weight of those 2x15s. I'm sure at some point if you get enough of the old 2x15s they'll be louder than the Dually. There's also an advantage to the Dually in that you can run 1000 watts through it. Comparing the cabs is mostly an exercise in futility.
If you want to compare three cabs to something else, why not 3 old 2x15s to 3 Duallys?
Also I only run my Orange amp at 2 (from 1-10). Anything louder than that is pretty unusable because it's too damn loud. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
