If you're digging into the used market, there's a ton of old Peavey rackmount bass preamps out there that are decent for SUPER cheap. If you're using a lot of effects any relatively decent clean preamp would probably do ok, even if it's meant for recording/PA use and not specifically bass. Depends on what your budget is really, if you're going to the higher end a used Demeter preamp could be really nice. There's a lot more options for rackmount preamps in used products than new at this point, you just have to hunt around. | I'll only add some warning here. I run my Peavey Alpha, Dixie style. (Treble on 0, bass on 10) I love it for this. However, adding any treble at all turns my glorius bass rig into a nasty hissy distorted mess. YMMV.

Going to pay off my zzounds in a few months and invest in something decent... if I find used before then bonus though. Thinking of a nice preamp, poweramp, furman and a skb 4 space and convince her that we need to pony up for a dually . |

T stack o DOOM | Almost every time I've seen someone rocking a Sunn Coliseum head live, it's hanging over the sides of whatever cab they're using. Those heads are super wide. I can't remember if mine hung over the edges of my 810, the rubber feet may have just barely caught the edges. I think it's more just a concern of stability. If it's not resting on rubber feet the vibration might be kind of hard on them guts too.

I would have to open my head up and take a measurement to be sure on the spacing. Nick still look too close? 2" center to center?

He told me that it was at the recommended specs for kt88 spacing, that's all i know for sure. It also has an electric fan twice the size of that classic 400's, and it runs nice and cool in that box.
