"Imagine the great Tony Iommi playing the riff to ‘Paranoid’ fifty times too slow, fifty times in a row, while Ozzy Osbourne sits in the corner bound and gagged with duct tape over his mouth."
that's the best description of a song i've ever heard, that's not negative. |

I'm looking at putting a 'mini rig' together for another band, 100 watt tube head (instead of 200w) and a loud 1x15 (instead of 2x15), possibly with a K140 in it. | They are old (early 80's) Sunn PA cabs, 1x15 + horn. But the horns were blown so I pulled them out along with the disintegrated speakers to make them into ported 1x15's. I had guitar 15's in them for a while until I traded them to Nick, they sounded great but just one alone would not suffice for live use IMO. But if its a quiet band and small venues it could work.

my rick is on the recordings, but i was using rounds and it naturally doesn't quite have the thumpy low end i require. new rig is so far: 100 watt tube head cranked to the limit for dirt, short scale epiphone EB-0 with all replacement electronics to be as close to a 60s sound as possible. the sunn 200s cab i have is too unwieldy/bit too loud. 1x15 cooould be loud enough - might have to elevate it. PA support at most venues we play will make up for it maybe. it's kinda difficult to test out this stuff being in a tiny island nation in the opposite hemisphere to my favourite cabs.
i'm REALLY liking the EB-0 for those following my quest. the three-point bridge blows really bad and it took about three days of finicky truss rod adjustments to get the right amount of relief on the neck, but it plays incredibly well and even with the stock pickup with flats running through tube/15s it sounds very close to Felix Pappilardi's tone on live Mountain albums.

That happened a long time ago. Operationally they were separate. So we will see. GB has a great reputation for quality gear and awesome CS. I really dig my SM 9.2 head. Even if they were to quit making them, I see mine lasting for a long time to come.

They`re supposed to be really good replacement bridges for the gibby 3 point bridges.

pretty badass instrument - it's literally the exact opposite tone to my rick as well, massive low end that reacts really well with an amp boosted in the treble department. |

Also learned how to use a multimeter today, gonna dive into my old broken Regal SS amp. Any where I should start Nick? I cant post pics later.
Its a super simple circuit from what i can tell, just volume, treble and bass, so maybe, maybe I can fix it myself. | visual inspection |

That's also mighty dank that the bassist from Bongripper is on here... In regards to that review, those people review things like Lamb of God and Lacuna Coil... Their opinion is invalid. Plus, Ozzie SHOULD be gagged in my opinion, so... Carry on |

Fender bought the company that owned GB in like 2003. It looks like they are consolidating the GB team into Fender, where up until now GB functioned on their own.
On possible result is Fender will come out with stuff I might actually buy if they incorporate GB tech into their stuff.
Genz remains on of my favorite heads, all time. NOTHING stoner/doomy about it, but I didn't have an active s/d project. The 12.0 I had was awesome in every way though, and reacted to my Sansamp BDDI very, very nicely |

Not much in the way of celebrity sightings. Just missed stevie wonder, missed Geezer due to a meeting (disappointed about that one). I did see Rupert Neve rolling around on a scooter (he's quite old), and stood behind Dug Pinnick in the beer line at the Prong/Exodus Schecter party.
Prong was really good, those guys were pretty ahead of their time. It's nice to see Tommy Victor get the band back out there again, rather than playing guitar on ****** Danzig albums.
Had amazing meals at super expensive restaurants, one of the perks I guess. Other than that it was meeting after meeting after meeting after meeting. Not much time for fun. Oh well, we had a good time and I'm looking forward to next year.
Getting pumped for the Mercian/Vega show on the 8th... ...and Welcome back Blender! It's good to see you around here again. I hope the job situation works out soon.
Alright, time to make dinner. Carry on... |
