god damn holy ****. that is a pretty amp.

what is the 200w one you're currently building in the most recent pic on FB? it looks like it has a fairly complex preamp/EQ on it.

Its a mix up of a superbass, vox ac30, and a Amepg v4. The preamp has 3 inputs Dark, Bright, EF86, and you can run them all parallel in or cascade the Dark and Bright into the EF86 via that switch near the pots. Each channel has its own gain control, and the
EF86 has a variable mode control going from triode to UL to pentode. Then there is a 4 control EQ modeled after a Superbass with the added Shift control seen on the Stonhenge. then a hiwatt style Presence control. The amp has a V4 phase inverter into 4 Kt88s using Hiwatt DR201 PT and a 240W Sunn style O

EQ is B, M, T with Shift which sort of pulls the low mids in and out, and at max almost makes the tone stack bypassed

Delay is probably my favorite effect. I almost don't even consider dirt to be an effect since I need it no matter what. So delay is the fun thing to mess with that isn't a necessity.

I love that Moog 104M I just wish it was smaller and used a normal power supply....then again if it was smaller it wouldn't be the same somehow.

I hear ya. I'm the same way. I always have some dirt going and 75% of the time I have delay or modulation or pitch shift going. I don't really consider fuzz an effect either.

I used to have one of the first Moog delays and foolishly sold it because I wasn't using it in the band I was with. I would live to pick up another one someday. Yeah they could be smaller and run on a regular power supply but like you said it wouldn't be the same. I would love to set up a moog board to run my Taurus III through.

Local and cheap. I would totally snatch that up if I needed it.

Same here. If a riff repeats more than like 4 times I get all self conscious about it and start questioning if it's too much or if people will get bored and when I show it to people I always point out it will change in a minute.

Like in that tune I posted in the last thread there's that kind of drone part that goes on for like 3 or 4 minutes. I always worry people won't dig that part cause there's not a whole lot going on. I dig it and like the feel but I just get weird about it when showing other people.

I'm also with you guys on the lyrics thing. I mean if the lyrics are rad then awesome but they are definitely the thing I place the least importance on when listening to something. The music speaks to me a lot more than words do.

Oh I also did some experimenting with my memory toy and the Orange. I'd say it was pretty successful. I'm digging the sounds I'm getting with the modulation turned on. Get's a real spacey sound. My only gripe now is it's kind of noisy it also pops when I click it on and off.

I'll have to see if my bro will lend me his MXR CC to try out.

That's a great price. If another one comes up around here I'd be tempted. Wouldn't think twice at 100.

i used to feel like this about a lot of my riffs, but bass fills, drum fills, guitar solos/freakouts and combinations of all three truly trick the listener into thinking there's more going on. 90% of our songs are two riffs, the other 10% are two.. we trick you into thinking they're more complicated than they really are by giving each member breathing room to noodle to their heart's content.

I've gotten to the point where a fuzz has to really blow me away to buy it.

Well I don't think any of my riffs or parts are boring. I just get weird about repetition when showing other people my tunes.

we're always our own worst critics I guess.
