Ha! Come to Texas in August.
I live in Austin..... that should be enough said. It's not really one area, it's everywhere.

Really? Motherf******!
Must have been east side... Our only "crime" riddled area... sort of. Not many murders here, but a good amount of theft.

I sent the new Mental Waste tracks off for mastering today. It's supposed to be for a split vinyl release with a band from Belgium, still a lot of logistics to figure out though. They're shopping it around to EU labels for distro I guess. The mastering isn't going to be done until March, but I booked another mastering session for the same time. Hopefully that will be for the new Cold Mourning release. We have our 5 songs ready enough to at least start recording the rhythm section. Hopefully having a deadline will keep things moving along.

Also apparently a guitarist I'm friendly acquaintances with, the guy whose folkpunk type album I recorded/produced and played on earlier this year, wants me to help him get an EW, Sleep, Sabbath inspired band going. I guess he has a drummer lined up, but in this area no telling how that will pan out. He's certainly got the gear for it, he has a pile of vintage Sound City amps and Emperor cabs and he's just starting to get into fuzz pedals, I loaned him a bunch when I recorded him. Could be fun, we'll see what happens.

Now on to more pressing matters...pedals! I'm going to get a new fuzz (russian muff style, I think) for my guitar, for this solo project I'm working on. It's down to EQD Hoof vs Mojo Hand Colossus.

Man, if I lived down there I'd totally give drums a go. Are they really that hard to come by? Seems like they are...

from gaza FB

So *******continue to exist. Someone broke into and robbed the practice space of our close friends in Boars (Official)/The Dead See in the Austin, TX area. Here's a gear list, if there's anything help you can lend at all, please lend it:

-Black Gibson Les Paul Studio. Has "coexist" sticker made out of gun manufacturer logos on back.

-Black Ernie Ball Music Man Bass. Black on black 5 string.

-Tobacco Burst Gibson Flying V. Pearl pick guard, strap locks, and gash on back of headstock.

-2 Murat Diril cymbals 19" and 20" Rock Series crashes.

-19" Meinl MB20 crash.

-19" Wuhan China.

-21" Zildian 1st Gen Megabell ride.

I wasn't gaza, my bad but still bad.

Oh btw if anyone's wondering, the package my mom sent me had a morely power wah volume in it. Played around with it for about an hour, very nice. The switching method is a little weird but the sound is everything I hoped for so I'm happy.

I was going to say that, I also have varying thickness of flannel, and cotton vs. wool flannel, green and blue, red and black, new vs. worn in to tattered...you name it.

I have the kit, now I need the house. Apartments suck. Torn between wanting to be close (walking distance) to everything and being fed up with the compromise of living in, what essentially is a FOB. (forward operating base). I hate the idea of having to drive more than fifteen minutes to get to work. I am not down with wasting my life sitting in traffic. I do enough of that at work.

I might be linking up with a guitarist that wants me to play drums doing sludgy doom in the vein of YOB, Sleep, and whatnot. If I started doing that on the regular, I would want a cheaper alternative to my nice Tama Grandstar that I have had since '91. That was the first real kit that I bought with my money, and a lot of it, see nine-piece drum set. I love how it sounds, and I don't want to get rid of it. I always hear of musicians that gain some level of success and wish that they just had their first "this, or that" back from back in the day. If those bad boys got boosted, I would be a thing possessed in getting them back. Anyway.. get your house kit brother.

CALTROP

I love it when you reconnect through music with peeps that you thought you lost to the ways of the world. I have not even had a chance to talk to him yet, but I know the guitarist is this group. I always liked his playing and I found out the other day through a mutual friend that he was still alive and kicking and making great music.

So, if you guys have a little time and wanna kick some songs around the block, check this out! Check out the song "Bloodroot" on "World Class" Can you tell that he likes Hendrix? lol. Rockin tone! Sweet riffs, and epic over the top drums! Some things can still be right in the world.

Pretty much what I'm looking for. Just a simple kit. They have this cool Gretchen kit at a local store for $300 I might check out. Big kick and its sparkly red. Waiting on money for my destroyer which is pretty much sold.
