^as a drunken bass player, i would worry about snapping the more heavy switch when stomping!

i have three questions in this post:

building my own pedalboard this weekend as they are dastardly expensive in new zealand. wood, tolex (haha), velcro, glue. running a daisy chain so the board will be totally flat and pretty messy with the cables, but i need something to transport them on that lets me take the board all pre-set-up.

anyway - first q - i was thinking of putting door handles on the side for easy lifting - have you guys done anything similar? if so, what's the easiest way to attach em? i'm not the most familiar with this DIY sorta stuff, but i am keen to make this a nice cheap first project..

second q: we're looking at playing audio samples, and as the guitarist and i are pretty busy, the drummer wants to trigger them with a pad. so far i've found you can get pretty cheap akai LPD8 pads here, but you need to bring a laptop with you to run it out into the PA, which is quite a bit of extra gear. are there sample pads with XLR outs that can load audio samples onto the machine itself, or is it too impractical and we may as well carry around a laptop/pad?

third q: is really nobody else infatuated with the bad idea t-shirts ad girl on the side there?

Missed a few incarnations...yeesh.
Hip Hop for me tends to lean in the more melodic arena.

Must share a local fav. Tilson is a sweetheart and yes that is Jack Endino on drums. The Saturday Knights '45'

Not nearly as much as most of my peers, I think I'm the only guy I know within 10 years of my age who doesn't listen to a lot of it or listened to it a lot in junior high and high school. Of course that was when gangster rap was really big and I was into metal and punk, so I didn't really get into it that much apart from a little bit of the old stuff like Run DMC, Young MC and stuff like that. Even then, very little. Most of my non metal and punk listening was jazz, blues and classic rock.

I'm trying to make up my mind on a Class D power amp, to use along with the forthcoming Dunwich Preamp pedal and my Tech 21 character series based guitar setups. All my tube amps aren't going anywhere, so I'm not concerned about having a tube power amp, just something light and loud to use with all the different modular pedalboard rigs. I'm trying to decide between the Peavey IPR 1600, the Crest Pro-Lite 2.0 or a Carvin model. They're all fairly close in price, Peavey being the cheapest, but I'm a little concerned about the reliability with that one. Seems like there's a lot of stories of them blowing up out there. Though I'm aware that a lot of people misuse and/or misunderstand the realistic ratings of power amps.
Peavey's current stuff is getting better, it's a decent amp and they'd take care of you if something did happen to go wrong. But if I had to choose between those three I'd get the Crest.

Lol now I'm going back through all my old hip hop. When I first got my driver's license, I drove around my dad's Chevy 3500 extended bed extended cab with this song on loop all the time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUXpNMMqW1A

Yeah, I decided to go with the Crest. I'm waiting to hear back on a "best offer" on ebay. They're the same product, just a little beefed up, with some better output options.

1. I have a handle a friend obtained from a disabled walkway ramp thingy that's going to get attached to my pedalboard as a carry handle, will get some pictures up.

2. A friend's band did this. The drummer had a sampler unit that hooked up to the computer to load up samples, then assigned samples to the pads as required. No idea what he spent though. He tried to sell me the 3 pads afterwards for $100 for all 3.

3. Adblock.
