Just waking up and looking on craigslist to see if any bands are looking for members and stuff. Late start today. My new black pickguard came in the mail for my pbass so I get to do that later and string up the flats, woo. Anyone here using circle k strings? Saw a thread about the balanced sets and it has me intrigued.

I saw him say some stuff like that about an old bassist of his who left his band to join a national act. Needless to say, I broke that band up shortly after.
So we are trying stereo bass and stereo guitar cabs tonight, a Young Widows style DIY backline. Both the drummer and guitarist want the backline to go guitar cab, bass cab, drums, bass cab, guitar cab... I'm concerned the drummer won't be able to hear the guitars. |

I was the one considering the odb-3 mod. I'm still on the fence about it. I've managed to coax some good tones out of it stock, I think the Sonic Maximizer helps it to not suck as much because it never sounded this good with my old amp. Bah, indecisive. It IS a cheaper alternative to a whole new boutique dirt pedal. |

Got my CIJ J-bass bass back. Replaced the pots with nice 500k CTS and put in a proper tone cap, it had a weird one in there like something you would see in a Strat, but man it sounds great now. so much more punch and the tone knob has a lot more control instead of just off and on. |

Do not need.

But I use the .192 gauge ones meant for Low F# which I then just tune to F standard. In the 6 years priors to using those strings everything I tried for the low tuning in Bongripper sounded and played terrible. It was always just a dull thud for every note on my low string.
It wasn't until I tried the circle K's with my RD which has a slightly longer 34.5" scale that I finally found a feel and sound I was happy with, ending the bane if my existence for the prior 6 years that Bongripper had been around
I haven't tried their normal strings but I would imagine they're pretty great. Also the dude who runs the company is a super nice guy. |

I'm not that into rosewood fretboards, I'm not that into tort pickguards, but when you put it all together I love the way those basses look. I think LPB looks good on a Precision with a one ply black pickguard and maple board, but I don't think I would ever shell out for that particular combo.

Letting every one use the Orange + Dually rig tonight, since I'm obviously friends with toast and I'm friends with the bassist in the 3rd band. That guarantees the bass will be nice and loud for all 3 bands haha. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
