I was looking for something kind of grindy, like Al's Om tone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBtcejjtQkQ . I had always wondered if, beyond bass and his amps, how he gets his tone. In some ways it sounds more on the distortion tip than just fuzz, but I could have that all wrong. I saw a picture of his board on another thread and it did show what looked like a Boss DS1 distortion pedal.
Anyway I did manage to get some good grind using my B3K and my VT bass pedal. I am not blown away by either of these two on their own, but together, it sounds like what I have been looking for. The only other thing that I might be interested in would be blending a clean tone in with this sound for fullness. But I don't think that will happen unless I get a blender pedal and I am trying to cut back on spending so much damn money. Well... we will see how that goes.
My girl got me a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for Christmas. Now I just need to learn how to use it. I don't really have monitors, so for now its just headphones. But do I need to be running something like garageband to make things happen? I have not had any time to mess with it much besides downloading the drivers and plugging it in. I guess I will give it a go tomorrow.

Avoiding work like the plague and really need to get some of my que done. Christmas rocked but so glad it's over. Have a boatload of awesome pedals coming at me now or this week once I get a chance to order them. Eta 1 - 2 months until I can squash most of my pedal gas and start working on amps/cabs.
Sat down with my guitarist this weekend at one point. Reconciled a lot of what went down with him and the drummer and the bad blood between them. I guess the drummer's out, he hasn't talked to me in days and keeps posting really emo stuff on his facebook about wiping the slate clean and crap. Sucks thought he was a friend... even more awkward that he works in the building across from me and my car's parked right in front of his as I type this .
The guitarist and I are thinking we want to try to rebuild with who we have under a different name and if that doesn't work keep jamming away. Have a tryout Thursday too for another project I'm really excited about so we'll see how that goes.
P.S. Still loving the Morley Power Wah Volume. My wife's getting jealous because I keep sneaking down in the basement to play with it, lol.

As promised here are some pics of the Modulated Bass Delay from Fuzzrocious. Not sure if he would make em to order, all I know is I remember not being able to buy one when he announced that he would be making these. Clips will follow.
Again, the rocker controls the delay time. First impressions: it gets dirt at higher volume, has a clean signal bypass, and oscillates into walls of feedback right before you can make it accelerate into space.
Also, happy to announce that I worked out a trade for a Bluebeard... I figure that getting the Lodestone off of the board will be good for my goal of downsizing. That being said, if any one is interested in any of the following please shoot me an offer. EHX Micro Pog, Dwarfcraft Great Destroyer (small enslosure), small TB loop, small A/B Box, Monolith Lodestone, Endangered Audio Gristleizer. - Still on the fence with the last 2, but things need to be paid for.
Hope everyone had a great holiday, unless of course you celebrate Kwanza, in which case; enjoy the holiday! |

Report: Got the bass synth and phaser I wanted. Messed around with them a little bit last night. As of now, I think I have the Phaser rate just fast enough to get that quick "Dragonaut quack". Just using one of my Carvin 1-15's at home for this test. So, I will need to run them at practice before I can give a great review.
The synth is pretty wacky. I can definitely see why the dubstep guys like this pedal. It can get pretty "techno-y". Lots of different sounds to mess with, but most of them sound like the start of a Chemical Brothers breakdown or something
The feedback looper loves the phaser and delay pedal together. The synth is a bit crazy sounding. I will more than likely be able to get some spaceship noises with this stuff. Also looking at getting an expression pedal for the synth. I'll check some videos later to see if it would be worth my time or not.
Wife got me tickets to Graveyard with a note that says dinner and hotel. Of course, she likes Graveyard too so, it was a gift for both of us really. I got $70 but some of that is going towards the board. I'll have about $30 left over and I think I am getting one of those $27 Toast specials. I'll load it back in the Omni and maybe disconnect the mid and just use it for something else on the stage. No real expectations on this one... But, the Omni is one of the most efficient designs out there. If it can sound good, the Omni has a good shot of bringing that out.
So only thing I did not get gear wise that I wanted this time around, was the Octave Fuzz (thanks to Corey for hooking up the Ultimate Drive).
Of course if the cheapo 15 sounds decent enough, I'll be looking to get a pair for the Peavey. Told the guitar player he could use that with his Ampeg if he wanted, until we could build him his V2 clone.

Not sure about modern versions... | +1. I have played some vintage BW equipped Peavey cabs before. But the cab can make the difference when it comes to how the speaker will react.

I worked for them for years. The voice in the commercials is the owner of the chain Mr. G. He's certifiably nuts and he talks like that all of the time, it's not a voice or act that he put on just for those commercials. We'd get phone call from him in that voice: "GOOD MORNING SIR, IS PATRICK AVAILABLE?!" It was hard not to laugh sometimes.
<Wisconsin inside joke, I suppose>
