Have some really cool stuff (for me) coming in and will probably be fiddling knobs for a while. Pics soon! Tryout was cancelled yesterday due to weather, it'll come... wife's now talking about moving to a place that has more living space but doesn't appear to have room for drums so I'm not going to be able to host band practices at home. Egads. Maybe I'm just spoiled living out in the country and city outskirts...

"Well Ryan,
It's been about a week since I got my demon king. I've played it through all my amps and with all my basses and tested it with both cstvt and Bongripper as well as used it to play spaced out riffs through a space echo in my room for hours on end.
...
My findings...you did it.
This thing is awesome, so awesome that it has officially replaced my long standing bass modded RAT as my go to/main tone for Bongripper. Something that around 9 other pedals have failed to do in the past 3 years. Not only that but I'm kicking off my fuzz and freqbox as well since the demon king is covering boost and obnoxious noises as well.
You've effectively replaced 3 of the 4 effects I normally used plus an expression pedal, with one. It's awesome.
I finally used it at a practice tonight with Bongripper and once I switched between the rat and the demon king one time the rat didn't come back on again.
You've done it, I don't know what else to say.
We're writing our next record about half way through and I can guarantee that you'll be hearing a lot of the demon king on it once its done.
Thanks again Ry, you're the man.
Take care.
Ron"
Sorry Ron, if I spilled the beans. But I have been eyeing the Oh See Demon for awhile. Almost bought one in fact. (Having the joyo clone coming will hopefully subdue me. *Thanks again Corey*) That with the Rat or the GS has me salivating...

Next will be the Voodoo Octave Fuzz. That thing looks cool. But, I can say that any pedal after what I have now is purely experimental. The Phaser and the Synth were the missing puzzle pieces to my spacey drone stuff. (and Laz, both are Behringer )
Maybe I'll pick up the real deal pedals once I get my other stuff in order, but for now Behr***** is allowing me to experiment.

I am stoked about the demon king. I had been messing around with it all week and wanted to keep from getting too excited until I actually could play it with the band. But like I mentioned in said email, as soon as I switched it on, it was over.
I still love my rat, but the demon king just dominates in the mix. I can hear and feel every note with authority and clarity. It's awesome. |

Very similar to a pedal idea that I'm having Dunwich Nick build me in the coming months, OCD + FAC boost w/ master on/off. I was having one built for the guitar board, but I might have to have him build me a bass one now too. White for the guitar board, black for the bass board. Maybe with some gain and EQ tweaks as well... Hmmm....

I'm rehousing a Boss FZ-2 clone board in a new Hammond box with new pots and switches/jacks/etc. The damn thing is SMD and double sided PCB, so a pain in the ass to work on. Anyway, I got all the pots desoldered and installed leads to go to new pots. Before rehousing I plugged the bare board in and tested. The boost channel worked fine, but the two fuzz channels were extremely quiet. While futzing with the board, I touched the contacts of the volume pot with my fingers and heard AM radio (I know this is normal). I was amused so I kept touching them and tried to see what I could hear. It was just some sports show, but it kept getting louder and louder. I kept touching the contacts and it just kept getting louder and louder over about 2 minutes until the fuzz channels matched the volume of the boost channel. ***!?
It's like the Fuzz channels needed to be charged by stray AM radio signal. Obviously this is impossible, but I have no explanation for what happened there. Freaking weird.
It's going in one of those cool wrinkle black finish Hammond boxes and will be named something Electric Wizard-esque. Any suggestions for names? I was contemplating using the Electric Wizard Font and/or artwork, since as I'm sure lots of you know, it's Electric Wizard guitar tone in a box.

Tone wise I had him add a clean blend. Otherwise there was a black paint job and switching the footswitch order for my backwards brain to better mesh with them.
So far the only touring plans we have are the UK tour that we are still figuring out all the details for in April. Hopefully by the time this record is written/recorded/pressed we will have sorted out our crappy van issues so that we can do a little touring. We're not a full time touring band so maybe a week or so (most likely out east) and random one off long weekends are mostly in our schedule. But it'll still be awhile before said new record is written. We recorded some demo's of the songs we have last night so we can see how they play out and think of any tweaks we need to do (sorry, can't share those just yet).
I still have my Goathead Blackout VST Twosome which is still my favorite fuzz pedal. In the process of testing out all these pedals I've been messing with lately, I'm lending the Twosome to one of our guitarists to see how he likes it. He's gonna give it a proper run through at our next practice.
Also as an update, decided that the darkglass B7K isn't my thing, so that's in the classifieds now. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
