Who was the bassist on the Mama Mia! movie? The one with Meryl Streep. Some mighty fine playing on some well-known songs. Great drive & groove!

Rutger Gunarrson, who I believe played on the original ABBA recordings as well.

A fine bassist!! Dancing Queen is a FUNKY line. Great POP bassist, NEVER overplayed or played stuff that wasn't spot on!

You want to take a crash course in grooving and not overplaying, grab any Abba disc and play along. It was great to see Rutger on the Mamma Mia soundtrack and see where those basslines are today...

"The Name of the Game" gave me a kick in the butt about laying back while driving the beat at the same time...

Mr. Rutger Gunarrson nails it on "Does Your Mother Know" as well.

Those ABBA songs have some fun bass. And you can always hear it.

I sub with a "show band" that covers "Dancing Queen" and that's always one of the most fun songs for me in the set (although we tend to take it too fast which kinda kills the groove).

That sounds like a cool gig!
