Sub-bass climbing up each last ditch and coomb. Greg Anderson, pervey a sonic doom.

Does anybody know anything about Greg Anderson's rig? Anything. I'd like to hear that sound in a different context, but I've never seen any photos of his bass, cos it was always dark and smoky, and I've never been to a concert (AND NEVER ******* WILL).

Have any of you been to a concert and seen what he uses (and come out with any part of your hearing organs intact)?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure their setup changes from show to show. Pretty much depends on what they want to do live. As you can see, Greg sometimes does bass live, sometimes guitar...

Another one I came across. Not sure if it'll work for everyone because I think this page has hotlinking disabled. But anyways.

they played supersonic 07, were on about 2am after mogwai, sad to say I was exhausted after seeing Om (never seen anything so engrossing and demanding in my life) and had to retire to my hotel room for a lie down.

One hell of a rig indeed. I bet soundmen love getting these tech riders and finding out that this backline gets miced. hahaha

Wonder where OP is?

I would love to see Sunn live. Sure I can watch youtube videos, but those crappy little mics in camcorders don't seem to like 125db's of drone.

Knowing what all Greg plays through, I'd really like to know what effects he uses, if any, whenever he's playing bass. Hopefully some more Sunn fans will come out of the woodwork and post in this thread. ha

Play your gloom axe Stephen O’Malley...

Seeing Sunn live was one of the most incredible musical experiences I've ever had. Utterly relentless crushing noise that destroys you from within.

Pretty sure the setup at that gig was Greg and Stephen on guitars with two other musicians on moogs and laptops to either side of the stage. Malefic joined them for vocals on the second (of two) song they performed.

Actually, saw them in early 2006 and that Australia/Europe '05 rider posted above matches the setup pretty close as far as I can remember. It got pretty hard to see much except slow motion shadows with all of the dry ice and fog machines.

SUNN is 125db on stage. SUNN IS VERY LOUD!
hahaha that is awesome.

They start off painfully loud and the volume increases throughout the evening. Their live material choice makes their albums sound like Top 40 hits. Incredible experience. Bring earplugs. Seriously.

I've been told that he used/uses a Meatbox for some of the rumbling. Other than that, I think a RAT pedal for some of the growl. I'm not sure of anything else.
