I just saw Disney Pixar's Wall E and I heard some fantastic stuff on that soundtrack. First, there was a Peter Gabriel tune and whoever played on that track really killed it. It was so musical, with the most gorgeous spacious phrasing that really filled the room. I assume it was Tony Levin, but I'm not sure.
Also, in the middle of the film where they first get to Axiom ship, there was some really cool 2 handed tapping stuff. Either was a Chapman stick or some 6 or 7 string bass that was really rhythmic and percussive. I searched around, waited for the credits, but I have no idea who did what.
Anyone have any idea?
Oh, and it was a great film, too.

Sounds cool. Sorry I don't know anything about the musician though. |

LOVE that movie.
That last song during the credit was GREAT!
Sorry though, no idea who it might be playing bass...

I read somewhere that Abe Laboriel did the bass on "Ratitouille", also an excellent Pixar film with some cool bass.
Edit: It also credits George Doering on "Contrabass Guitar".

On the subject of recently viewed, I saw Mamma Mia the other night and what total dross that was! I've seen and enjoyed the stage show so I thought "why not" when the wife suggested it, but it really was dreadful the only redeeming factor was the great bass in the songs. I really am a closet Abba fan/disco bassist! |

I have "WALL-E" next in my Netflix queue - I was looking forward to it, but these musical examples have pushed it into "eagerly waiting". | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
