Those of you who were involved with (or just listened to) contemporary Christian music during the '70s probably remember Sweet Comfort Band. I remember really liking their sound, which was sort of jammy pop/rock with some jazz and R&B overtones -- and a phenomenal singer out front, Bryan Duncan -- before it drifted into some other directions near the end of their run, in '84.
At any rate, I was going down CCM memory lane recently, and I read on Bryan Duncan's web site that the Sweet Comfort Band is reuniting, for the first time since their 2001 reunion shows. They're in the studio and putting together new music. Sadly, bassist Kevin Thomson, who essentially started the band with his brother Rick (drums) passed away earlier this year after being sick for quite a long time.

Good example of their sound here - this track sounds a bit to me like mid-period Chicago or maybe even Earth Wind & Fire -

And a vintage clip with the band in concert -

Kevin is playing an Alembic here, I think - and his sound is really punchy despite the kinda' crummy audio mix. I read that he had previously played a Gibson SG.
The guitarist is Randy Thomas, who went on to play with the band Allies (I didn't really follow them), did Nashville session work and co-wrote the hit "Butterfly Kisses."
There was really a wealth of talent in that band; hope I'll get to see them if/when they tour.
