One thing I want to know. WHY, do you need to be part of "straight edge". Why can't you just follow what is best for you without having to join a cliche?

I think I know what really goes on . . . "Straight Edge" is an addiction to sharpie . . .

Well people come to together for all sorts of reasons. Humans naturally gather with people like them. Straight edge offers a lot to a kid growing up. It's a support structure and it builds confidence in people because they feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves. Some people go to church to do this, other people join gangs, and some people become straight edge.

Let's not forget that it's a hell of a lot of fun! You can't really tell it's fun by the way SA posts but most people enjoy hang out times and shows and the anticipation of seeing your favorite band explode on stage. I remember waiting to see Sick of it All and Warzone for years before they showed up and when they did I near **** my pants I was so crazy. These guys were like rock stars to me when I was 15.

I saw so many good bands and had so many good times with friends that just putting on a few records and chilling out puts me in a completely different place.

And really, all it took for me was to see one show and I was hooked. I walked out of the show sweaty, tired, and sore and thought "this is where I belong".
