I've been listening to this guy on Richard Thompson's latest, Dream Attic, and he is just cooking.

What else has he done?

He worked with Dwight Yoakum through the 90's and then Lucinda Williams. He has a bio up on Spencer Davis Group website: http://www.spencer-davis-group.com/BioProdaniuk.shtml

Just to throw it in.... Taras is also one of the nicest guys you'll meet. Totally knocks down the stereotype of the aloof egotistical "L.A. musician". Pro player, good guy.

I saw him perform with Richard Thompson last night and he was just killer - one guy in the audience actually ruined it when he yelled "Less Bass" and Richard advised him to move !

I couldn't identify one of the basses he played with - soft of like a Jaguar or Lakland Decade shape with pickguard that covered almost all of the body - anyone recognize it from this poor photo?http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...ageID=22479328

Looks like an Ampeg 'scroll' bass.

I think you're right! Either that or an Italia Imola. Thanks!

I'd love to see other pictures. I don't think any of the inexpensive copies have the Scroll but there is a builder making copies that are extremely good basses.

Taras always seems to play interesting basses. He also uses a Les Paul Signature...Great player.

Very cool bass and bass player. The older Ampegs with the "mystery" pickup were very thuddy but the last batch had a bridge that did not stick out the back and intonated properly as well as having a magnetic pickup that sounded great. The volume pot was push/pull on/off acting as an onboard standby.

Seen him with Lucindia Williams.
Strong groove player, knows how to play the song.
In the Bob Glaub, Pino mold.

Saw Taras in Pittsburgh with RT last night. Great sound and the pwerfect picture of a player who works within the band and doesn't overplay, although he is capable. He used a Fender Jazz as his main bass, an Ampeg fretrless and, on only one tune, a Lakland USA Glaub. I couldn't make out his rig but it's a 410 cab sitting atop his amp rack case.

His sound cut right through the mix -- a much better sound than that of the bassist from the Aussie Pink Flyd Show, which I saw last week. The APF bass was lost in the keyboard low end although when he played solo, it sounded fine.

What kind of sound was he getting from his Ampeg fretless?
Jacoish...upright like?

Not quite Jaco -- a bit more upright sounding on the 4-bar solo he took. It had plenty of bottom but individual notes were still distinct.
