Hi everyone I need some advice. I'm stuck in a rut playing the same style of music - rock, but I wan't to branch out a bit and taste some new styles like jazz, funk, soul, latin et etc but I don't know really where to start has anyone got any suggestions of songs/artists from different genres that I can get my teeth into?

Two of the best places to start IMHO, are youtube and myspace.

Assuming you have fast internet, you can cover an enormous amount of ground quickly and a lot of it is very, very good.

Searchable by style, user rating whatever you want.

Just find a tune in one of those new styles and learn it. Focus on get the feel down first. Like Latin, it sounds simple, but to get the rhythms right and the proper technique is a lot of work. Learning Jazz and the theory that goes with it will help you in any style of music you play. Again the main thing to learning any new style is listen a lot and getting the feel down.
