Listening again to "Lady Soul" with headphones on... It's ALL killer bass lines. There's this little lick I just heard on the alternate version of "Chain Of Fools" that just made me stop what I was doing and shake my head!

Hi, new to site. We did some recording at R.C.A., in Nashville in 1971, and hired a great bass player for the take. I don't remember his name, but he said he was a studio bass player on some of Elvis's songs. The master of "Kentucky Rain" was laying near the control board at the time. Do you think it may have been Tommy?
Thanks

As if all the bass tracks mentioned were not the absolute baddest already! I like that he had a guitar track inside of him he needed to get out. That's the way you'd want your sessions to go if you were the artist!

Gun to my head, I'd probably pick Funky Broadway as my favorite bass track, but they're all just SO GOOD!

I had an internship at LSI Studios in Nashville in 1981-82 my senior year in MTSUs RIM program and Tommy was the 1st call session bass player there.

I knew his track record at the time but looking back in retrospec how lucky I was to observe him in action 2-3 times a week.
