My 12-year-old son, Brandon, had his first bass performance today. He was in the school talent show.

He also played on the drumline, and performed a "free-form" snare drum solo. I am one proud Papa right now.

He looks older than twelve. Looks concentrated too, thats good. Congrats to him! I had my first show, a talent show as well, at the age of 12 also. It was nerve racking as hell. Granted, i'm almost 18, it feels like a long long time ago.
I remember what song i played. It was What You're Doing by Rush. good song
I see the guitarist is playing an SX too.

As a dad of two aspiring young musicians (13 and 8) I know where you're coming from. It's very cool!

When I was 15 my band rented our local community center for $25 and we played What You're Doing by Rush in our od setlist. Great, Great Rush song and that was almost 15 years ago for me. Its nice to hear that younger generation bass players are listening to good, not so often heard, music. Congrats to you as well Jeff. When I have kids hopefully this forum will still be around so I can brag about them.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still happy as can be. He's actually a much better drummer than bassist, but I think it rocks that he was confident enough to play both in the same night, in front of his peers.

BTW, the song they played was the main theme from "Halo".
