There seems to be an extreme lack of bassists in North-East England.

I live in Newcastle, and there has always been a thriving music scene here for generations. However, there seems to be barely any bassists at all. Plenty of guitar and keyboard players, but the lack of bassists is very noticeable. For example, just today, I was asked by four different people from four different bands if I could record some bass with them because they couldn't find a bass player, the genres ranging from Beatles-style rock/pop to metal. I said yes to them all, because it's what I love doing, but it got me thinking about this.

So if any bassists from Newcastle or North-East England are reading this, feel free to speak up

Thats interesting. Back in the 70's (in San Diego), there was a real lack of bassists too. It seemed everyone wanted to play electric guitar or keyboards. At that time, I really wasn't very good (funny how times don't change much), but I seemed to be quite busy. Everything from cowboy music to punk. It was great!
