Thomas Miller

So, lately, I've listening to some early Symphony X (Divine Wings of Tragedy, in particular. Fantastic album.) again, and remembered how great of a bassist Thomas Miller was. Tight, melodic, technical playing that never got too wanky or detracted from the song as a whole. Not to mention, he had a tone to die for. Clear, punchy, but still warm.

Anyone ever know what happened to him? It seems like he just up and dissapeared. I've heard rumors about him becoming really religious or something along those lines. Lepond is a great replacement, but I think it'd be cool to have Tom back.

If you've never heard of him, Sea of Lies is a good song to check out. Or The Accolade, Pharoah, The Witching Hour, Medusa's Eyes, or the title track. Hell, just about anything on that album has great basswork.

I don't know what happened to him, but I've always loved his playing (fusion-like sometimes in a metal setting) and his fantasting tone and solos...Mike Lepond too is a killer player....
